Anyone suggesting the board are at fault here is ridiculous. WTF are they supposed to do? If Chelsea hadn't come in last minute, this signing would probably be seen as a masterstroke, the fact we have been gazumped by a team that no doubt seems a better prospect to a professional footballer, who have more money than us, is unavoidable no matter who is in charge.

Stop pretending Chelsea are only doing this because they're scared of us, it's embarrassing.

We all have such a good laugh at RAWK, some of you on here make me cringe at the thought of other clubs fans pasting this on their forums and laughing.

Just get a grip and wait for news. If it happens, great, Lamela was my first choice but William would be a massive bonus.

If it doesn't happen, we move on. This is our current spot in the pecking order and we have to live with it until it improves.

Is that it (I would have thought so tbh) or does ratification of transfer need to be sought from selling and buying clubs/leagues? Would be helpful to know especially in regards to ITK

as soon as I saw Joorabchian is Willian's agent, I expected us to have problems at some point. I just assumed it would be in a year or two down the line. Chelsea are obviously in a better position than us, but if he does go there, I can't see how it's not money-motivated, given the number of players they already have in his position. as much as I still want him, and will be disappointed if we don't get him, maybe us missing out on him is a good thing in the long run. it'll just be so bloody frustrating.

I'm not buying this "last-minute" bid either. if he was holding out all day and "considering his options", then he must either have known of Chelsea's interest, or have actively been encouraging it.

If we assume that Levy has allowed us to be gazumped on Bale's replacement, yet proceeds to sell Bale late in the window anyway and replace him with a player the coach doesn't want, and who ill-suits his requirements a la Moutinho and Dembele/Dempsey and before that with Campbell/Pav, it will be his and Lewis's fault. John Henry knows better and he's been involved in football for 2 seasons.

Now it may be that we simply can't afford Willian's and Moutinho's within our own means, but the club will never get the commercial deals they want while ENIC engage in penny pinching.

These sort of posts are nearly as annoying as the conspiracy theories.

This isn't a cut and dry situation, on one hand there is the chance to win things quickly, play CL footy and earn some serious cash, but there are downsides, playing time might be limited, you may not get the opportunity to play at a home World Cup, you can't be sure how much faith the manager has in you. On the other hand there is a chance to be part of a project that could lead to winning things, there is a manager that believes in you, there is an opportunity to force your way into your national side, yet on the downside is slightly less cash and a less chance of winning things. Willian's choice will be down to what he values more, but it not a cut and dry situation at all and it is stupid to pretend it is.
