Losing Bale and adding only Lamela represents a massive lost opportunity. IMO, bringing in Lamela and Willian would make the team stronger overall than just having Bale. We need the flair and individual brilliance of Lamela and the creativity of Willian - that way you don't need to rely on just one method to break a team down, you have both.

This all still feels stunningly last minute, I'd hoped that this type of situation wouldn't happen again, a deadline on Bale should have been set long before this point. Also the fact that a late deal for Bale is only going to get us what we have been asking for for weeks, makes things worse. At this point it must be well above what we have asked for or simply tell Bale he is under contract and Madrid, despite all the tapping up, didn't want him enough to pay up.

Lets get Christian Eriksen. Perfect back up option. Plays in the same positions and is highly creative.

If we don't buy a creative player our new signings will have less impact.

Big oops moment for poor old POTL this...

It really wasn't.

As far as the club were concerned it was done. Everything agreed, paperwork being processed, photos taken, etc.

I know "done" is a dangerous phrase to use but if you want ITK info before it's on the club website then you have to accept that sometimes the definitions are looser then we'd like.

It's not often you see me sticking up for POTL which probably says it all :p

Doubt we would sell Bale now unless we immediately bring in Lamela and another player similar to Willian.

that's the only good thing about this, Levy surely wouldn't go with another Berbatov situation. We can't let him go without getting some top quality attackers in. And our best ITK AVB said we are looking to bring in Attackers (plural)

still fair play chelsea, that stung us again like their champions league win....fucking trolls :ROFLMAO:

For instance, Gylfi scored 7 in 18 appearances for Swansea. 9 in 29 in the Bundesliga when he was 20. I don't believe he is good enough for top 4 but i think he is comparable to Eriksen who has similar stats albeit a bit better in terms of assists in a weak league and who also hasnt cut it on the International stage.

Eriksen may be a bit off still, but would rather rely on him pulling the strings in midfield than Siggy - IMO much more potential in him.

Don't bite my head off but didn't we do something similar to Liverpool with regards to the same player?

Everyone keeps talking about Eriksen, but is he actually available? This late in the Window?

I'm just really angry right now, I wanted Willian and didn't expect for him to be such a bellend about it, I mean who does this! I hope Sandro and Capoue double team him next time we play Chelski and end his career.

Emmanuel Petit and to a lesser extent Dennis Bergkamp.

Historical precedence is that this is quite possible and yet I refused to believe. But I believe now. And I can't see how we pull off any of these other players that everybody else wants.

Right seeing as I cleared my afternoon for this bullshit I'm going to watch something on Netflix now. Newsnow will just be full of Willian to Chelsea stories for the rest of the day, we'll have no news on Lamela and it will take the weekend to seriously sort out an assault on our next attacking midfield/number 10 target

I just feel sorry for the poor bastard in the Madrid club shop who's been carrying the Bale 11 shirts up and down the stairs from the store room for the last few days. Back you go sweet cheeks.

Not nice missing out on Willian, but the major thing is for us to tie up the Lamela deal. This may serve as a warning for us to get stuff done a bit quicker.
Never actually seen Willian play, so can't get too down on a player that isn't in the Brazil team! (Not like Paulinho & Sandro will be!)

A bit disappointed we look like missing out on Willian, but a look at his career so far suggests that he just follows the money. Also, if he is a £30 million + player, then you have to question why he only has 2 international caps for Brazil.

Time for Franco and Levy to wrap up Lamela and sign a player who can play behind Soldado
