Really concerned how weak we are making our squad, our bench is so weak and yes we have Dembele to come back and potentially Nkoudou when that is done (I bet it will be done on deadline day so Levy can say he done business!) yet we are selling our squad, I know we have a stadium to build but I am sure Levy said it wouldn't effect the buying power, and people who believe Poch when he says we have a squad he is happy with, you must be kidding he is just spinning words for Levy and he wont stick around if this continues, why would he! we really should have pushed on this summer with the extra income from TV and Champions League, seriously look at the money being spent elsewhere yet we seem skint and only want to make profits.... at least when the lot down the road built their new stadium they maintained a solid squad and still won things, we are just getting rid of all our depth, players I agree should be moved on but we need replacements. we need at least 4 in (inc Nkoudo and GK) so 2 more in 3 days which is never gonna happen.

I fear for us this year, I really do and think we will have a year off Europe next year.

I surely can't be the only one that is a little bit worried that our options off the bench to change a game include Winks and Onomah...

I'm all for promoting youth but for fuck sake. If we are prepared to sell N'Jie, Chadli, Mason, Carroll etc and replace them with winks and Onomah then we might as well not bother at all. I'll reserve judgement until the end of the window in the hope for some surprises but if we are left with those as our bench options I can see it getting very arsenal fan TV in here...

I wonder if Marcus Edwards is good enough to go into the first team hence why the ITK and potential incomings has dried up, maybe Pochettino has realised how good the kid is.

If that's the case why hasn't he even made the bench for the first 3 games?

No doubt bro. Them kids last year, that youngest team in the league, sure sucked hard last season.
No, "them kids" that you are advocating were not the mainstay of the team last season. You're trying to move the goalposts to suit your argument.

Options off the bench?

Seriously?

A raft of ITK, transfers out, targets signing elsewhere and we're on 'options off the bench'

Just worry about our bench options in games as well, not to mention when we need to rotate when the games come thick and fast.

For me we've no one to cover dembele and he's crucial to counter teams who press high as he's phenomenal at shielding/holding the ball and carrying it forward.

The other thing I was hoping we'd address is the lack of pace in our attack, it just makes us easier too defend against. I was hoping we'd move for a real quality player in that regard.

And 13 million for Chadli? In today's crazy market, very perplexed by that if the figure is accurate.

Guys let us wait until Wednesday night. No way will the board want to upset a fiercely ambitious manager who has recently signed a new contract with assurances (educated assumption). I expect us to announce at least three signings.

I thought that finally getting Champions League would cause Spurs to show some guts and pull in that truly top notch player that would really make a true difference in the squad.

Wanyama is solid and helps fortify the DM spot and Janssen looks like a worthy backup for Kane. Neither however are the type of signing that says "we are going for it".

It looks like they will post a profit in the market or at worst break even again. I know there is a stadium to pay for, but with CL, record TV deals, and five plus years of no net spend, when exactly will they "go for it"? Will they ever? What will the excuse be after the stadium is finally built?

I don't think the current roster is good enough to get top four again because others have improved their talent greatly (looking at Man U mainly). Unless there is a major surprise under wraps like Son that comes out of nowhere, there appears to be no one else coming in. Certainly frustrating.
The kick in the teeth for me is those two are signings I've had expected us to make comfortably if we had finished 6th or 7th.

Not to knock them as they fill valuable holes in our squad, just with finally achieving CL again and the TV deal.. This was the window that should have been different.

We always over-trim our bloated squad at this time of year and leave the manager short. It happens every single window. As someone said, £13m for Chadli seems cheap, but we tend to buy low and actually sell low a lot (apart from the stars we really don't want to lose) because we're often in said fire sale mode..

So obviously the Isco thing was the shortest saga ever and we'll never get near what Palace want for Zaha (not that I rate him at all) - so hopefully N'Koudou is actually going to get across the line and we don't sell Son.

Don't transfers, ITK, players coming and going etc have an affect on the team and squad we are potentially able to field on a match day?

Our options "off the bench" are a direct response to selling a solid, international standard squad player, in favour of a kid who has done fuck all in the game yet. That added to the "ITK" about looking unlikely to bring in Isco or a quality replacement mean it's a valid point surely? If not I'm sorry and I'll bow to your superior rank.

Its almost like we've learned nothing since the last time we were in CL.

Both very much needed signings - although potentially not who we really wanted (Michy ITK earlier) - but that's Danny's dealings for you.

However, both of them were simply covering large oversights in the squad that most clubs (not managed by Wenger) would not allow to happen.. so it's hard to give too much credit for it.

The thing that makes this summer's lack of transfer market ambition even more lamentable than the timidity we showed in 2010 is that this year we already know that we're in the lucrative group stages of the CL, rather than having to qualify in the play-off round. It seems even with that certainty we won't show any ambition in the market, so you have to ask yourself at what point we ever would look to go for it?

As I said in a consecutive response, I would agree that if Mason and Carroll go that we would need a midfield replacement. However, I actually like Dele Alli in the No 8 role, and it would free up spaces for other players and the young kids (Edwards, Onomah) to get some playing time in the AM positions. We also have Harry Winks who Poch may feel rather comfortable with as the season progresses.

As for Chadli and N'Jie departing, I'm plenty content with GKN filling the need. We're already overloaded with AM's who aren't contributing much, so I'm content. Eriksen, Lamela, Alli, Son, GKN, and Janssen/Kane being occasionally deployed as a duo, with plenty of younguns in the background, is plenty for me.

I think you're getting carried away with last season. Yes, we were great, but it was a total one off. The only reason we finished where we did was because most of the other big clubs in the league were in total disarray. There was a mutiny against Mourinho at Chelsea, City bizarrely announced half way through the season that their manager was a lame duck, LVG proved himself to be a tactical dinosaur, and Liverpool were in transition.

Each and every one of those clubs have improved dramatically over the summer, not to mention Arsenal. While we have finally addressed the two holes that we should have filled last summer, we have otherwise stood still. If you believe that promoting some academy players and bringing in a prospect who hardly set Ligue 1 alight last year and is clearly one for the future will be sufficient to keep pace, I think you're in for a rude awakening.

Never is the correct answer.

Hopefully this years Son isn't too far away from being revealed and then quickly signed, my word we need the perk up.

I still believe we will sign someone other than the 2 obvious ones. 72 hours!

Being mischievous but with Yedlin out for £5m and Chadli for £13m, the potential of Mason for £10m and others we are creeping up towards zero net spend...
