isco ??? really guys, why even do it to yourself, we be lucky to sign the bloke from France that ive never even heard of.

The one who is supposedly in a London hotel training with us literally on the brink of being unveiled as our newest signing, if we are paying the hotel bill it will be the Travelodge in Edmonton.

That's all great mate, and I couldn't care less about ratings. Point is though I was agreeing with A&C that it wasnt going to happen. Just never posted something negative before and received an optimistic rating for it. Just wondered what was going through your head and why you thought not signing superstar players was optimistic?

We aren't the same team as we were then! We have 1 of the most highly rated managers in football! We have some high potential players in Kane Alli Dier etc and some top class 1s in Hugo and Toby! World Class training ground with new stadium on the way! We aren't Real Madrid but we're in the best position to sign a player like Isco than I can remember and I'm 26!

I agree unfortunately and I'm 62. I wish it was the other way round though and I was 26.

Lamela cost £25 million and was considered the best young talent in Italy, Lloris was considered one of the top keepers in world football whilst Eriksen had linked with a host of elite clubs for years. So no VDV isn't the only one with a comparable reputation.

Problem is this is the sort of player we all dream of signing, and tbh we kind of need a player of his ilk right now. So, as mad as it is to have any belief this will happen I am afraid that I along with the rest of loons on here have already bought the shirt .

Read what I wrote again please.

"Rumours about us signing a 'star' player during the last couple of days of the transfer window" All of those you name were touted around for quite a while before the window closed with VDV being the surprise that never even cropped up until it was done.

That's how I account for them.

Every transfer window we seem to get a rumour during the last few days about a 'big' name. Just to liven us up I should think.

We will get nkoudou and probably that keeper but nowt else unless we really clear the decks of the players poch doesn't rate and if we do clear the decks it'll be some player no ones heard of coming in, we all know it deep down!

The difference this year is that we are in dire need of such a player. Whether you can use the phrase 'star' about such a player though should be for debate. But with all those players (potentially) leaving the club there will undoubtably be a hole that needs filling. I also think it's a hole bigger than last years. I reckon we will sign someone - why not Isco or similar?

Neither had established reputations and neither had their career enchanted by Real. VDV was a squad player at Madrid for most of his career and they were that desperate to get rid of him they let him go for £8million. Isco has not progressed on from his Malaga days and like VDV has spent most of his Madrid career as a squad player and they are keen to be rid of him. VDV was well within our range and the same applies to Isco.
