CL limits. Porro, Zaniolo, Damajuma leaves no room to add a CB(If As I said in my original post Zaniolo is as well as a Danjuma)
Won't make a difference you can only add 3 new players to the CL squad.
But we could sign player x,y or z and not include them in the CL squad or drop one of our current registered players I’m assuming

So there is a ok thing stopping us signing a CB. We could get knocked out by AC Milan
Yep. The fact a player couldn’t play for us in the CL this season should definitely not be an excuse to not sign them at all. We need them for the PL to help us get CL for next year which is more important than a few more games in the CL this season.

We should use that during the negotiations with the player. "Come and play for us, we're in the champions league. You can't play in it, but we'll get you a couple of seats in row Z so you can watch us".

And equally we may get knocked out but you could sign for a club who will be in with a realistic shout of qualifying for the next 5 years. Not saying it’s ideal but our need for a CB for league games warrants a little creative thinking

If it's been known for any length of time that AC almost certainly won't renew as Herc suggests, then it seems inconceivable we would have even explored recruiting any of his primary targets on a permanent basis just to give him more players for the second half of a season.

If Porro or Paratici do sign on permanent deals then that either means FP is convinced that any future manager would want them or that AC could still be persuaded to stay. I hope for the latter but fear the former - especially if we end up with a new manager who plays a style that doesn't suit those players and FP is proved to be wrong and we've wasted c70m

If there is no chance of AC staying then DL should have pulled the plug, got a new man in and not wasted yet another window and a potential CL place.
Did Toni say he was happy on Monday?

I’m really not sure how to feel about WLDs latest ITK. I don’t think he definitively said Nicola is off. Just suggesting that it may be more unlikely now, due to putting more money into the Porro deal.

I know Zaniola is a Conte request, but Im not feeling fussed if this doesn’t happen. In particular if Conte refuses to commit to his future with us, then this is a type of player other managers may not fancy. Whereas Porro and Danjuma have enough versatility to work under different systems.

I am not being critical of Danny or Conte for their positions on this window’s strategy, and now with the Fabio mess added on top, I can certainly understand hesitation on all sides.

If we end this window with Porro and Danjuma I’m okay with that. Wish we could improve at LCB, but clearly not the window to get it done.

Exciting week ahead. Fingers crossed that we get the two aforementioned over the line. And hey… ya never know… good be a surprise twist at the end! ?

Still don't know why we're looking at Zaniolo or Danjuma. If those are the areas that Conte is focused on then I'm very worried.

If we let Moura go, and now loan out Gil…. We will be short again if only getting Danjuma. Must be another forward coming in IF Gil is available

@Rob I just don't see how that's the priority if we supposedly have so little to spend. We don't have players in the first team who can pass the ball, defend or who can play in Contes stupidly inflexible system. That surely needs to be his main focus.

We have plenty to spend but would rather a “deal”. Levy would rather spend £50m on two deals than £45m on the one player we need.

Exactly, he’s still living if the hype and adulation he got from the VDV transfer years ago, where he was hailed by all as “shrewd” and a “genius”.
Much as I loved Rafa, I kinda feel this is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are now, as Levy is always looking for the next coup rather than what we actually need

He is looking at it from a financial not playing viewpoint

Diversifying your portfolio..spreading the risk on 2 players instead of one

We will never win anything with this little clown in charge

I actually think we need a forward as well as rwb and cb. Lucas and Gil offer very little if anything, son has been missing all season so we have Kane kulu and richy, the latter two have been injured a lot this season. We need a forward and I can see danjuma replacing son at the moment. Managing to get a player in who could have an immediate impact for £2.5m is just good business. And if the Porro deal is being pushed towards the release clause and a need for a large initial outlay it restricts the funds and maybe makes Zaniolo impossible in the same window. I don’t think our business dealings are all about Levy’s ego I just think we struggle with staying within our means unlike other clubs who bend fifa rules and throw money at problems.

Funny, we were behind the likes of Everton before Enic and Levy took over at spurs…. We may not win but we are in a good place compared to about 85+ clubs in the country
