CL limits. Porro, Zaniolo, Damajuma leaves no room to add a CB(If As I said in my original post Zaniolo is as well as a Danjuma).
Alternatively we sign the above AND a top drawer foreign CB, resulting in a smaller champs league squad, but a better first XI

Even if we had some outs, I think CB is way more important than a forward player.

Not that I think it'd happen but Danjuma and Zaniolo in - Lucas (release/free) and Gil (loan) out would do the trick there wouldn't it?

I guess we still need to move on a non-HG for Porro which could be an issue - as neither Emerson or Doherty seem keen on leaving.

IMHO I think the priority should be a creative midfield player to provide a link between our defence and our forwards. At the moment we don't have that creative midfielder so our defence is under constant pressure and inevitably mistakes get made. The situation isn't helped by not having two good wing backs.

It is criminal that this club continues to neglect our defence and goalkeeper. We are a club going nowhere. Sad.
Yawn. Another moan.

We aren't going to be replacing Hugo mid season. I felt we should have replaced him pre season. However, I doubt a) the calibre of keeper is available, or b) that it would be good for morale to bin Hugo, who has been a fantastic servant to this club.

Won't make a difference you can only add 3 new players to the CL squad.

But you can buy more at January (like Chelsea, who will they drop for CL out of new ones?)
Exactly. A team is allowed to have 17 non-homegrown players in their Champions League squad. I can think of a few non home-grown players... (Sanchez, Emerson, Rondon, Davies, Dier, Doherty?) that I'd happily dump out of the first team squad and ask them to train elsewhere and find another club. We need to take a hit on numerous players and start again - preferably without Levy/Enic. Apologies if this is too much off-topic.

Not getting it are we. You can only register 3 new players regardless of who you buy or sell

  • 46.01: As of the round of 16, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 2 February 2023 (24.00CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.

If it's been known for any length of time that AC almost certainly won't renew as Herc suggests, then it seems inconceivable we would have even explored recruiting any of his primary targets on a permanent basis just to give him more players for the second half of a season.

If Porro or Paratici do sign on permanent deals then that either means FP is convinced that any future manager would want them or that AC could still be persuaded to stay. I hope for the latter but fear the former - especially if we end up with a new manager who plays a style that doesn't suit those players and FP is proved to be wrong and we've wasted c70m

If there is no chance of AC staying then DL should have pulled the plug, got a new man in and not wasted yet another window and a potential CL place.
