But Palacios has a quality head on his shoulder. I hate that people seem to forget that his brother was murdered and he actually waited for Harry to wake up to tell him the news. A testament to his quality. Do you think Diarra would have done that? No, he would have left, not called Harry for two weeks and then handed in a transfer request. Lassana Diarra's track record of teams shows that he has potential but little application and no fucking balls. So a little extra talent over heart/head......Palacios is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Diarra.
And no one in their right mind could have blamed him. Being a nice guy is one thing but Diarra is a better player, and like I said before, no one is calling for Wilson to be sold. It's like having Fletcher and O'shea - not exactly first teamers but are essential in the overall quality of the team. Like Ferreira - he was great at RB but Ivanovic was better - but both are at the club, it's called depth.
That's what we need if the title push is a real objective.

It's funny that the team news was moved but the other non-ITK stuff (the baby stuff) remains! :-D

Oh, and congrats to theKyleshow! Well played sir, hope mother and baby are healthy!

I see your point but comparing Palacios to O'Shea and Ferreira is incredibly harsh :-|

 thanks

Perhaps technically better, but I've seen Palacios control some difficult passes with some style on several occasions and he'z quite good at dropping a shoulder and beating his man.

My opinion anyway.

Although I think that Diarra is marginally better of the two, and I really like him and don't mind if we bring him in, I'm pretty much with you BBLG, Diarra is not a vast upgrade and all the responses you made in the post about Palacios passing and role were spot on. There is so much nonsense written and mis understanding of Palacios (and players of his type in general) on this forum. He's not there to Hoddle, he's there to do the ugly things, the fact that he can play a bit as well and is technically good is just a big bonus.

I bet if you compared their tackling stats Palacios would come out on top as well. He has not had a dip in form at all and was probably over all our player of the season last year - but it seems unless you can hit a 25 yard screamer, or have a big dopey smile you are never going to get noticed by most spurs fans.

The other striker is suarez (i hope). I would prefer diarra as I think he would win the midfield battles for us and help us dominate games (parker not even close in doing that)

Merely making a point about how players can be used. I think a lot of people here think that we only have one starting XI and if you get omitted for a game it equals banishment. With injuries and multiple games in one week, we need people of comparable quality for the same positions. Not saying that Palacios is the same as Fletcher, but his perfomances have been suspect lately and no one can dispute that. They will prove in training which one is better. If Diarra is availabe for less than 10 milion quid, it is a coup that can be compared with Kranjcar.

The Crouch out rumour is interesting - Everton would make sense based on the 'needs to return to liverpool to sort out his relationship' angle we were told a few weeks back.

I'm hoping the second striker is Toivonen. Suarez is a good player but Defoe, fabiano, suarez and Keane/Pav does not a balanced strikeforce make.

One thing I am having trouble getting my head round, is why an earth we waited until he was CL cup tied (Fabiano) if we are going after him regardless. It's where we need someone like him most. Was it levy knowing he could wipe a few mill off the tag if he is cup tied ?

Funny thing to do though.

Yes seems strange but I think it is most likely because Sevilla wouldn't let him go until they had made sure they had qualified themselves. I have a rather sneaky suspiscion that we will make another striker move in addition. Someone who can play the loan striker role away in Europe.

I don`t think that Diarra and Palacios are similar players at all...IMO its Hudd we need backup/cover/competition (call it what you like) for, Hudd knits the midield together, I would have thought Diarra would be more suitable to this role than being considered an upgrade on Palacios, they are not similar style players...

I think it was the Sevilla would not let him go before their playoff, they wanted him to make sure they reached the group stage payday.

If we signed Fabiano, Diarra, and Benzema I don't actually know what I would do, I think I would go in to shock. Would make us genuine title contenders

Well this is true, Diarra is a DM in the Makelele mould and Palacios is a box to box player who specialises (for us) in breaking up the oppositions play. However if we signed Diarra he would be in direct competition with Palacios and not Huddlestone you would expect.
