They always sell players regardless of Champions League. But there's no doubt that missing out on the Champions League will affect a small (and they are still small) club like Sevilla. It will mean they will now have to sell 1 or 2 big name players rather than just the 2 they've already sold. They've already sold players:
Adriano to Barca
Squillaci to Arsenal
Sevilla don't rely on CL football, something they've only had for the past 2 out of 3 years. The only reason to sell Fabiano will be that their forwards are looking a little old(33 and 29) and they could make a killing on him. Similarly, Baptista and Reyes have been sold for large fees and delivered little at their subsequent clubs.
thanks mate!
He does look like a super little player, someone on here has been championing him before, can`t remember who though, might have been Dan Ashcroft....
To be fair, besides Matzdorf, it was the best post on this thread all day. Although nobody caught the sarcasm of my rant earlier
CL won't make the difference between selling Fabiano or not. There is no other big name to sell, as Navas won't leave home. They always sell players regardless of Champions League. Squillaci cost Arsenal about 6.5m Euros. Adriano cost about 10m Euros. Fabiano would fetch at least those 2 combined. Not to mention he hasn't signed a new contract anyway, so they can't lose him for nothing next year.
They most certainly do rely on Champions League football to balance the books.
Would love Lukaku

Nice! Get the low down on Obika as well as he is there for the season
How will it not affect them? They rely on Champions League money to balance the books. They don't have that now, so will need to bring money from somewhere else. They have a player who would fetch a decent amount with only 1 year on his deal.CL won't make the difference between selling Fabiano or not. No one's in for Fabiano at the price Sevilla are seeking. Fabiano won't go anywhere that sees little sunshine for long periods. If Rennes was too cold for him, England is going to be like entering a freezer. I wouldn't be surprised to see him arrive at Milan.
£13.5m (16.5m euros) is probably about the mark I would've thought. Some reports have suggested 18m Euros, but i'm sure that's a bit high. Adiepf seems to think around £12m.I very much doubt Fabiano would fetch 16.5m, let alone at least that amount, given his current circumstances.
Oh dear i wonder what this could mean  a new striker:hump:
Given Fab's age, I'm flabbergasted that DL has been coerced in to stumping up for him as, like you say, there will be cheaper more viable alternatives out there, keener and hungrier and potentially less of a risk that they won't bomb in the Premiership.
The fee is likely to be no more than £12m which for a player of his class is a good deal even at 29 and with 1 year left on his contract.
Who do you suggest we buy who is younger, cheaper and less of a risk? I think you may be struggling to find someone better?
In recent years we've bought numerous players for tomorrow, we now need to move onto some for today!
For those who have said we shouldn't sign Fabiano because he cannot play for us in the Champions League wake up and smell the coffee! As some have said we will not win the competition and our priority must be the Premiership in which Fabiano gives us an upgrade on the strikers we have. If Fabiano can help keep us in the top 4 then job done!
It amazes me that no matter who we are linked with the doom and gloom merchants are quick to act! We have a very good squad at Tottenham and it is getting hard to upgrade on the players we have especially with the financial constrictions, size of the stadium, etc.
We are going to see some major changes in the game over the next few years with the new financial regulations and we are in a good position to deal with this, many clubs including some of Europe's elite are going to struggle so let's see how we progress. I personally think we are on the verge of great times again at Tottenham, trust in Harry and Daniel Levy and enjoy the ride!

I never quite get the way people use the word "believe" in regard to ITK. I keep reading dissertations on whether people "believe" what adiepf is saying. It's unclear and doesn't really say anything.
I am confident, because of the way he expresses himself and his long membership here, that adiepf is not lying. He's reporting stuff that he's being told as accurately as multiple memories and the principle of Chinese Whispers permit.
But people keep blurring this with two completely different questions: (a) whether adiepf's source is telling him codswallop, fibbing to him, trying to show off or just spinning tales for reasons of his/her own and (b) whether Fabiano is actually going to end up signing for Tottenham.
The result is total confusion and non-communication. If Fabiano doesn't sign, it doesn't make adiepf's info wrong or make him a liar, it just means that either things changed at the last minute or adiepf's source was stringing him along or - more likely - exaggerating.
What I don't get if why so mny people seem to be incapable of distinguishing between these things - it's not difficult and it doesn't require a powerful intellect, just a bit of basic calm and observation - and why people get so tied up in rage about what's basically a bit of a third hand leak from the club.
