Yes I agree with you, providing we are getting another forward in.

Ignore me, I'm a little sensitive being 32 myself, I like to think I'm still capable of running about

It would be a good signing if we get someone else younger in as well, Forlan for his experience and then someone younger who can learn from him.

I'm sure you can still run about Pinky, 32 is young...ish

Would be delighted with Forlan. For £7million its a great signing, he was class at the World Cup and has only struggled this year at Atletico because that club is so screwed up.

He put on a major strop with the manager and owners (who make the porn barons in East Ham look like Warren Buffet) and was basically in and out of the team. Not a great show of character but he'd worked hard there and was central to their success, and probably felt he was being dicked around with.

But anyway, as a player I think he is superior to all our current strikers because he is not just one thing. He isn't just a walking totem pole, or a goal scorer, or a moody so and so, he can score goals, create, link up with midfield, float wide, plus he has good pace and mobility. He could play up top with VDV behind, or behind a front man, with a striker, or even wide in a three.

If the deal is right to cover the fact he is at or slowly going past his prime, I think it's a great signing. Would complement a Leandro Damiao for example as Forlan would hopefully produce the goods now, and when he is on the decline Leandro steps up.

100% agree, he is a versatile player with many attributes that will improve our current team no end. Yes he may be 32 but that younger than Drogba and Forlan does not rely on pace, and yes he did not pull up trees whilst at Man Utd, but he is a more experienced and much better player now than he was then. Bring him in with Leandro and i think this is good business

Of course Pinky I agree, but like I said I hope he wouldn't be the only forward signing we make as I do think we need changes upfront.

Here we see popular SC member, Hotty, displaying her amazing talent for understatement:wink:

anyone who thinks jenas is better midfileder than wilson is simply nuts and hasnt a clue about soccer. sandro thudd and luka all better than wilson in center of midfiled , i think parker is nailed on for us. just waiting to get of bodies first before he signs so ill be disappointed to see wilson go as he is a very good lad, but ever since tragedy at home he has never been same. jenas not fit to lace his boots as midfield player.

i think sandro, thudd, luka and parker is a great mix. well happy with that. just need another winger who can play both sides to challenge lennon bale and pienaar and that a very competent midfield.

sell the rest really.

I'm sorry, what?

I thought you were telling people they didn't have a clue, and then you said 'soccer'. So I stopped reading.

Great point, and why this signing makes total sense to me.

Would be happy to see Forlan sign for us.

Would still want another decent striker brought in though.

Yep, agreed, for 7mil not a huge risk. Leandro, Forlan and someone like Adebayor or Podolski id be very happy.

Well I guess the younger signing points to being Leandro.

We could well be looking at signing;

Leandro, Forlan, Parker and a CB if Bassong goes.

and yes 32 is young...ish

Forlan is a player on the wane... That being said £7M is a much more attractive proposition that the £20+ we were talking about in January.

I think for that amount he is the kind of experienced player that would be worth having in the squad.

I would still like Rossi as our "big" signing of the summer, he is only 24.

Forlan, Rossi, Parker a CB and I'm excited :)

As pointed out above, he's had a difficult time at Athletico this year, its not necessarilly accurate to say he's on the wane albeit he's getting a bit older.

I personally think it could be a master stroke, but dont want to get my hopes up just yet as it does seem unlikely he could be in London playing half way across the world last night.

Cheers Banksy

But yep, I do agree generally agree with you there, though I think he came into his best form a year ago, and its still in him, but like others have said, he had a bad time with the Athletico coach last season.

Thats stuff made of dreams, I would love Rossi to but I really dont think its realistic whatsoever.

Forlan and Leandro is most definitely realistic.

Don't think he is on the wane, he is out of favour.

I'd take him for £7m if he is available and we can sort wages/signing on fee.

I'm just thinking back to the supposed bid in Jan, if we bid for him then why not try again?

But yeah its a little bit of a dream I guess.

Is there actually any substance to this rumour or is it purely hear say?

To add my two-penneth's worth, I think Forlan could prove a very shrewd signing and ultimately, even if he is deemed a short term purchase, our short term goal is to reclaim a top 4 finish - Forlan will be a more than welcome addition for this challenge.

Has there been any ITK about Forlan, or are we just going by the article on Metro.co.uk?

I cant see Rossi wanting to come, just cant...but it would be magical if it happened.

Are we all agreeing he would be a positive signing?

Good grief what is it, a love in?
