Think his info came from the WBA end though he started his info with "dont shoot the messanger..." so not necessarily happening today. I wouldn't expect it to be today after WBA stance yesterday.

At best we get closer to agreeing a fee with them today, but even that is optimistic I think.

We'll get him in the end but I think it will go pretty close to the wire now.

Re Paul Smith info - Personally I always work on the basis that most ITK is a few days out of date, as the info gets passed on outside of the clubs.

I think things have changed at WBA (with the rejection etc) and we are still a long way from agreed , let alone done"

I still think we'd be short of a striker even if Berahinho signs, particularly as it seems Poch thinks of N'jie as more of a wide player and there is a possibility that we may play with two strikers.

Hopefully we hear some positive news r.e Fazio today. I think that can only help the Berahino deal if he does indeed go to West Brom.

Just so we can get this clear. The "Paul Smith info" didn't actually come from Paul Smith. He posted the info from someone else who is connected at WBA. Hence the don't shoot the messenger line, he's just passing something else on. As such his previous record has no bearing on that info what so ever. It'd be much better to refer to it as WBA info.

I think that was in reference to what he describes as a 'fluid formation' with Chadli for instance at times coming in more and having the potential to play as a second striker.

I don't think (I may be wrong) that he intends for us to line up as a 442, just that the team'sshape can change depending on the situation.

Yeah, you could be right there. Still think we need 3 strikers, bearing in mind we are in the EL and Kane needs to be protected from burn out.

Illaramende is the one I'm preoccupied with. Berahino seems almost certainly done, but someone of Illaramende's quality would really sort out the midfield

I agree that WBA's comments mean that the Berahino deal probably won't happen today.

They have to realise though that they have a saleable asset there only really until Tuesday. After that, unless someone is really desperate in January, they are keeping a player on the books, one that doesn't want to play for them any more, who will leave for free next summer.

I don't think a club like WBA will be able to do that, so unless there is a big offer from elsewhere (and I don't see where that would come from), I have faith in the ITK and am confident that he will be ours by the time the window closes. I'm sure all this is some sort of effort to save face on WBA's part.

Ditto.

Whilst the addition of a Striker is imperative due to our lack of numbers/options up front, for me, the CM/DM (whatever you want to call it) appointment is potentially just as important.

I don't know much about Kramer and Bender, but I do know of Illaramendi, he would be ideal for us and would mesh well with Mason.

Besides, he is now an honourary Ian..

Which makes him even more awesome...

Like the rest of us...

...
.

That's all well and good - but they also know that we have to bring in two strikers in the next 7 days. Our position is just as precarious in that respect. And that will allow WBA to maintain their stance for a whole lot longer...

Why the emboldened?
He isn't on his last year now so won't be free next summer just a reduced price because he will then only have one year left (IIRC)
