It does. However, it seems like we are a mess, in terms of finances and planning.

We have appointed a rolls Royce of a manager, bit expect him to work with a Ford fiesta.

People are worried that he will walk.

In parallel, Levy has doubled our season ticket prices for inferior football.

I don't want us to spend stupid money, just have a plan.

It all smacks of opportunism.
But what if our plan isn’t the selling club’s plan?

And also, what if none of the rumours are true?

I think it truly shows the difficulty of signing a player in the January transfer window.

Conte has no intention of walking irrespective of if we buy anyone or not this window, and I'd bet anyone in here on that. That is all media bullshit talk.

Villa are closing in on a superior player in Bentacur IMO.

Any other manager and I'd agree with you but Conte has form for it.

Conte being backed looks like Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli being binned out of the squad on his say so, in spite of whatever absurd value Levy places upon them.

and bringing in an absolute clogger who’s not better than any 3 of them

Definitely a sense we're hell bent on cleaning the decks ahead of the summer and if they can get the three (Allie, GLC, Ndombele) out now, and pad our squad out with just the one loan midfield replacement then so be it. The three going have contributed so little that it'll make no difference overall.

And I guess that Conte would have to be on board with this guy, and must have a better sense than us having been in Serie A the past 2 years. Obviously it seems he's fallen out of favour at Fiorentina now but he seemed to be doing fine before then (based off appearances etc, having never seen him play myself).

Worried we are just making the same mistakes again.

Not getting in first choices, taking a punt of other 'affordable' choices that end up needing to be moved on because they are not good enough.

I guess at least we are now focused on loans so we can send them back, but it's a worrying sign when we are looking to fill the large gaps in our squad in this way.

Perhaps the most worrying thing in all this is with a DOF, you'd have thought there was a clear plan with identified targets and the ground work done prior to secure signings. But it still feels very much like we put a list together, hoping that clubs will accept offers well below valuation until we end up at the bottom of our list, contemplating whoever is left.

That's fair. I'm not losing my shit. Regardless of who we sign. However, I can understand people's frustrations

It would be nice to sign a shit player, who turns out to be good. We've done a lot of the opposite recently ???

This forum is becoming the most schizophrenic place outside of Broadmoor.
Not usually one to call this stuff out and I’ve seen Several people over the years use ‘bipolar’ or ‘schizophrenic’ as adjectives so I’m not just mentioning this to you.

As someone with Schizophrenia and living in the community, I think you misunderstand what schizophrenia is as an illness and also stigmatise people with it when making these remarks.

again, sorry to highlight your post and nothing personal.

Thanks. No offence intended. I’d not known I’d left a rating. I’ll remove.
Nice one, I thought it must be just didn't want a new poster getting scared off.
This place can feel quite overwhelming when you first join/start posting. ?

Yeah if anything this is my main concern. I'm fine with us bringing in stop gap players until the summer, but when Villa are bringing in Coutinho, Digne and potentially Bentancur and we're going for Amrabat that's not great.

Villa are having perhaps the best window in the whole of Europe, though, so they must be offering these players silly money to attract them to the midlands.

If its a short term loan and he is better than our youth midfielders then it might work for just adding some depth.
Agreed. Its not ideal but if our targets are only available in the summer, and we can get rid of GLC and N'Dombele now, then its an acceptable option. Just about...

Fkin ell. No one has said we're signing him, just that we're linked.
Sit back, relax.
Enjoy life more
then who are we signing other than maybe traore?

we haven't had a likely link in ages and this one looks to be very likely (it fits our profile unfortunately)

This forum gets so toxic so quickly
Do you actually think that is strange, People went nuts when Conte came in and said No way Spurs would appoint him if not already money was put in place for big signings, then we get linked to Amrabat. and so far no signings in January

Not saying they will not come or Conte will not be backed, but not so strange that people get antsy either. Conte signed for 18 months guys, he would not do that if Spurs had truly signed on a promise of huge spending....

tamper you excitement and then you will not get that disappointed :)

Trix has repeatedly stated that it's all about next season. January is difficult, and if we can't get the players we want now, it's much better to get rid of the wasters and bring in stop gaps who can do a job on loan, than it is to do nothing.

But what if Conte wants better than Bentacur and we just can't get that better player in right now?

Go ahead and waste money? Have another unwanted player on the books, eating up a salary.

And if we don't get top 4, what's the betting that is the reason the budget becomes tight and its groundhog day.
