I really hope I regret writing this in a few days time, but I'm going to call it how I see it.

This is starting to resemble a Shakespearean tragedy. Daniel Levy, much maligned, finally does what every one tells him to do and steps back from the footballing decisions. Heralded by his mole, Romario, in rides the great Paratici.

As it happens, Paratici has a relationship with Conte, probably the greatest manager alive, and somehow, miraculously, he persuades Conte to join. This was, and will always be, Paratici's greatest coup and also the core of this tragedy. Because if Conte doesn't work out, it will be down to Paratici himself.

And the problem is, I very much suspect that Paratici is completely the wrong man for the job. Everything he has done so far, aside from Conte, would at least hint at that.

Let's be clear, the summer shenanigans with the managerial roundabout had Paratici written all over it. And Mendes...

Gattuso, Nuno?!?!? Really!! Now what (or who) is the common link there? Well it sure as hell ain't the good old Spurs DNA

In the summer Adama Traore becomes the latest client of Mendes and around this time, coincidently, he also becomes Nuno's prime target. You know, the player we simply have to buy to show we are supporting our 117th choice manager. Traore is the sort of player who is incredibly exciting to anyone who doesn't watch him. He is a freak of nature, can swat aside any opposition, and would be an absolute world beater if he could play football.

Paratici is very keen to allocate over 40 million of our summer budget on Mendes' newest client, but Levy, at this stage likely starting to get that twitchy feeling of just who the hell have I let into my kitchen, steps in to pull the plug on that particular deal. We are furious, obviously.

It's no problem though - for Mendes at least - because as luck would have it, Traore just happens to also be the one player our next manager needs to show that we are backing him. This is because Conte has a problem in that none of his right wing backs can cross the ball. So naturally Traore will be the perfect acquistion, because although he really can't cross a ball, he played RWB once (although he was certainly second choice to our current RWB who we can't get rid off fast enough. Another Mendes client actually, funnily enough....)

Unfortunately for Paratici, Mendes learns he can actually make more money by selling Traore to Barcelona who aren't allowed to register him. So he pulls the rug from underneath Paratici at the last moment. What are friends for and all that. But actually don't worry Fab, I'll make it up to you, reassures our super agent, by brokering a better deal with Luis Diaz "you know nothing gets done in Portugal without me...."

Nothing in Paratici's past suggests that he is anything more than a wheeler dealer, IMO, he's Harry Rednapp in a suit, just with a larger phone bill and a smaller car window. That can work if you are sitting at the top of the food chain, like Juventus. At Spurs we are going to need a bit more savvy and a bit less Mendes.

In my opinion Conte is not calling the shots on incomings, he doesn't have time. He is an absolute workaholic who is giving every second to getting the best out of his players. He will have said who needs to go and therefore who needs to be replaced, and I am sure he will be sounded out on particular prospects, but it is not his job to scout. He will expect that the players he gets are up to the task and he will go cataclysmic if the club lets him down on rebuilding the squad.

so Paratici is the key link and right now the weakest link. It's time for him to start realising that this isn't going to be easy, it will take proper scouting processes and networks, it will not work out well if he keeps relying on the likes of Mendes and the players he happens to know personally - you can only pull out the odd Romero - and it will not work out well if he doesn't learn all this pretty damn quick.

As I say, that's how I see it, and I REALLY hope to have egg on my face come Tuesday

Ah well, it seems Liverpoool gets their revenge for that time when a few players chose to come to us. Remember that American guy? Deuce was it?

There will be other players. We’ll sign someone.

It's quite clear that a high volume of posters here can't follow the simple rules.

I get the frustration, but for the love of God please take it elsewhere!

It think this thread needs to be locked or read-only until deadline day.

I think us getting amrabat is the third part of the theory when the 2/10 gives up shooting so high and manages to snag a 3/10.

Hopefully he turns out good and helps us get 4th but lets be realisitc he was unlikely to be top of contes "like" list, we've just gone really far down that list now....
Confirmed?
If not then just more conjecture that has plagued this thread for weeks!
And therein lies the problem.

This thread needs to go back to how it was, bans for people who stray wildly off topic. It will kill the biggest income stream for the site if the ITK is lost.

if you want to moan about Levy/Enic, fack off elsewhere to do so.
I would say banning for going off topic is a bit extreme but banning for negativity in a forum that is basically meant to be about links to players within the transfer window is justified and anybody who has the audacity to attack the ITK's should just be banned altogether and go to TFC as this isnt the place for them.

I know the mods have thought of all angles but the new ITK+ transfer thread is just giving people carte Blanche to discuss anything and everything.

it’s stopped ITKs posting because of the vitriol that comes back to them, alongside the endless doom-mongering in every thread, besides this one. I understand people are frustrated, I am too

I’ve been here since 2012 so maybe stuck in my ways, but felt the older ITK only discussion thread worked well as was probably easier to moderate. However, I understand why the powers that be made the changes as it was a good idea to conflate supporting links to ITK etc. all in one thread.

I’m just one person on this site but I feel like if the current set-up is causing ITKs to stop posting, we maybe need to change it. or posters need to start showing some self-restraint.

It seems that Trix is talking about the site on a whole and not just the ITK thread.

He announced his departure in a player thread.

I have to say that the last few days have been tiring. This forum goes to negative extremes I can never, in my worst moods, reach. It's fucking demoralising.

Some of the crap spouted regarding the club purposely bidding for a player they have no intention of buying should make me laugh, but it instead makes me seriously concerned about some peoples thought processes.

The abuse thrown at some people is shameful.

The possible loss of @Trix is a sad indictment on some members and my heart goes out to the likes of @Stoof in having to moderate the extremists.

Dreading the summer.

This is the fallout from not investing and pushing on after the CL final defeat.
We could have become one of the big boys, picking up top notch players.
Instead we do all the leg work, finding out acceptable transfer fees for other clubs and letting them swoop in and complete the deal.
Joke of a club…

We signed Ndomblele; Lo Celso and Sessegnon in that window didn't we? 3 of the most highly rated young talents across Europe.

And all of them have bombed. CLub's fucking cursed.

Can we please put the rules back in place?

No twitter, no off topic, no bashing. Full and hard core.

The stupidity, emphasised by the lack of patience and perspective is making this unreadable.

I get that it's a chore but the popularity of the window is so important to the site. It's why you do your donations push now @Rob

If we've learned anything it's that the rules make this place work. If you need a volunteer to clean this thread up, I'm available.
Just ban people permanently from the thread for circumventing the rules. And no review of the bans after a while either. We're gonna lose all ITK at this rate ffs.

I thought I'd have a little look today to see people's reaction to the events last night where we increased our bid to a point of acceptance to see if people could see we are trying to back the manager, yet I see the opposite in now the majority of posts. Can't count the amount
of posts I've read this morning from posters saying "I'll wait until Tuesday before I start moaning" and yet have literally hammered the club/Levy/FP in that very same post. Sometimes paragraph after paragraph, with "I'll reserve judgement until the window shuts" at the end.

Quite honestly imo the transfer section has become a joke, it's basically 5-6 match threads where we are losing rolled into 1.

So forget what I said about Tuesday, I wont be posting any more in this section until one way or another, this stops. I'll continue to pass on behind the scenes buy to be honest I don't even want anything I hear passed through the Goat right now either. What has started with a few very negative posters constantly posting the same thing in every thread(and never the appropriate thread), has turned into a complete landslide and the vast majority of it belongs elsewhere.
And the defense rests your honour.

That's a shame. So there isn't much point to this part of the site then?

Understand the position, not sharing is someone's prerogative - especially if they are being attacked based on the content of info shared.

Obviously criticism of the club is a different matter entirely.
Oh I don't know that for sure. But the silence is deafening right?

That's not a lot of point posting anywhere at the moment - here, Twitter, anywhere. Every discussion on any matter is just a big ball of hate about everything. Everyone just seems so angry - it might be tone, it might be me seeing something that isn't there, but the world just seems really sad and angry :(

Obviously criticism of the club is a different matter entirely (though not always on topic in here...)
And it seems like many many others don't get the point at all. It's not about what is being said it's where it's being said, and how often by the same posters. It's impossible it's page after page of anti Levy/Enic/FP stuff in the itk thread that has literally zero itk on any of the above. The player threads are bad enough but this thread really?

I'll repeat again there are actual threads on this forum to complain to your heart's content about Levy or Enic or FP. No one would have an issue with you posting whatever misery you wanted in there because it is in the right place to do so. Come Tuesday that's exactly what this thread becomes and rightly so, a place to discuss ifs, what's, and why's.

Really don't understand how so many can't get a grasp of this despite being told over and over again. Feel really sorry for @Stoof and @chrissivad because trying to police this mess can only be ten times worse than having to just read it, and that's a teeth pulling chore in itself.

I decided to step back and have fun with my daughter. Focus your energy and time on something that truly matters and accept the things you cant control/change.

We're somewhere significantly below 10 which is part reason all our targets are choosing elsewhere...put whatever number you want on it 4 or 5 or 6 if you must, the point is the same...on the football scale im not sure amrabat is as high as 6, and thats out front runner signing right now....
I honestly think that whats more to blame even more than previous poor transfer decisions is the poor management decisions that followed Poch leaving. Mourinho was the worst thing I have seen happen to this club. Sucked out all the joy and excitement and what credibility we had built with pundits away. Watching the football we played under him and then following that with Nuno for a two and a half year period has been tough to have any interest in as a spurs fan let alone neutrals and players when they are forming an opinion of where our club is going.

Guys , what will be, will be.

My line of work has taught me that, I’m a mental health nurse.
Worrying and getting angry over things out of our control is not healthy.

We miss out on a signing or two, the world keeps spinning and masses keep supporting the team.

Im also guilty of sometimes reacting with raw emotion myself, there’s always a bigger picture and things eventually work out for themselves.

We all love our club, but the narrative surrounding us and negativity in the fanbase at the moment is insufferable.

Go out and enjoy life, things always get better.

If anyone ever wants to talk my inbox is open.

Much love
Your fellow Yido ❤️
