So, out of the relegation places, then.
Sounds good to me!
Good platform to build on. Let's not forget, we'd only won half a dozen games in 3 months before AVB came to the rescue. He stopped the rot.

Again where will he play then?

Up front? No

VDV role? Possible but again a massive downgrade

On the flanks? No Bale and Lennon are more threatening

Holding role? Not that type of player

He will play in the centre instead of Modric

You clearly know nothing about football.

Different season timings.
Yeah, but if he was definitely going to be our next manager why didn't he just reject it outright, instead of mentioning he would only take it in January?

think about it .. if he was "set to join" us and become our manager then why the hell would he talk to Sao Paolo ??

i find it very weird and maybe just maybe it is not going to be AVB !!

Because they approached him earlier this season and then was probably just being polite or asking them not to give the true reason.

anyone else happy we're not getting remy and de jong or atleast dont look so likely)? besides having fancy foreign names, have anyone actually seen a good game for either?

Watch quite a bit french football, and Remy inparticular just have never impressed once. havent watched de jong as much, so cant really comment to much on him, but have something "pavish" over him.

Hope we can do better for our forward positions

I wonder when that actually took place though, for all we know it was 2-3 weeks ago...

Too many people believe the junk that is spouted out in newspapers. The point is, our ITKers and most respected journalists know that AVB is done. In fact, the bookmakers have had him at odds on for over a week now at least. Yet, these scummy red tops require headlines in order to fill in the time between agreement and appointment and also in order to sell their fricking papers.

It is AVB, it will be announced next week. Get over it.

lol beat me to it :D

If AVB isn't going around telling people he has taken our job, he probably doesn't want the select few people he has told to go all Whelan on the media. They probably said the excuse out of respect or because he lied to them.

Ok so let's get this straight. You are happy for player who played for Swansea last season and who was not seen as good enough for a moderate bunsesliga side and a player who has been linked to the might of Liverpoo and Reading to replace the world class talent who has shone at the Euros against some of the best players in the world at the very highest level and a player who has been linked to the biggest club in the world.

I'm sorry but If this goes through it is a MASSIVE step back. This is no where near a like for like replacement. Whatever way you want to spin it. This is not a sign of a club moving forward. Quite the opposite.

Nothing against the player, from what I have seen he looks ok. But he is no where near the level of Modric.

This is such a massive overreaction I don't even know where to start !

It's a squad game, that means more than 11 players will have a part to play over a 50 game season.

The boy has got talent, and really caught the eye last season, for a decent price. I don't see what the issue is especially when nobody knows who Lukas replacement will be!

I reckon Levy will do his usual trick of playing the window by ear to see if a bargain pops up in terms of a creative cm to replace Modric. We will have hudd back as well so there wont be no urgency from Levy to replace modric if we get this kid. We may even use most of the money to help buy a couple of strikers.

I can't believe we're buying Vertonghen as a Bale replacement. There is NO WAY he is as good as Bale.

There are things known as subsitutes. VDV doesn't last 90 mins most of the time, plus you have the europa league and cup games to rotate players. It's a squad game, you can't purely think 1st team all the time.
