The whole thing has been odd imo, leaked all the way by WBA. It's usually the buying club doing all the leaking in order to exert pressure. The selling club would usually just issue a not for sale statement and leave it at that. No need whatsoever to include any numbers or payment structures if you have no intention of selling.

It seems to me that they are willing to sell - otherwise they would never have engaged in discussions in the first place which all oy the ITK suggests, and I have to admire their guts in trying it on with the little bald one. Think they may have overplayed their hand on this one though.

Initially I doubted the message that was claimed to be said by the chairman, so went to the official website. How/why would a chairman go into so much details if he had no intention of selling..

“Firstly, had we ever entertained the notion of selling him we have not received an offer anywhere near attractive enough from Tottenham Hotspur.
“Not only have the offers been too low as a valuation of the player, but they have been based on stage-payments and add-ons over a long period which do nothing to reflect Saido’s ability and potential.”

I wont go as far as saying I will put my Mortage on SB coming to spurs as it is pointless, however if SB doesn't end up at spurs I pledge £50 into the kitty. I will update my current pledge with this.

Think we will call his bluff and will be offering him to us next Tuesday for a fraction of the price. I hope anyway!

No one needs to sell. No one.
You don't get a better deal the later you leave it.
Teams are less likely to sell as they cannot get replacements.
It reeks of desperation.
We always do it.
You waste the first 5 games of the season without the team you want/need for the season.

Ok. So, haven't we had various ITK state Berahino has already done part of his medical? If so, doesn't that go against Peace's comments. If they were prepared to let us do that, selling him was obviously on the agenda.
Moving forwards slightly, if this doesn't pan out, the transfer rumours thread is very sparce on CF and CM. Wingers, WF and AM aplenty, but CM and CF looking very thin on the ground.
Right about now, gotta place faith in the ITK comments about work being under the radar.

The irony lies in the 14th wealthiest club in the world, with one striker on the books, who is likely to play, trying to buy from a club that has 5. And two of them were signed recently.

We've been involved in some weird arse transfers over the years but this Berahino one is making a play for top of the list.

Rubbish. If that is the case then why does the bulk of all transfer activity take place towards the end of the window?

See everyone's given this a 'doh' yet it turns out it's it's more likely to be the case. I suspected that as soon as our last bid for Berahino was rejected and the quickness of the developments of Son suggested that we had moved onto another target.
I d'ohed because Embolo is far from a 'cheap alternative'.

Dear ANGRYBOB. I really don't think the transfer window is for you. Suggest a lie down until next Tuesday.

You never used to hear a word from Chairmen years ago, and now, every Thomas, Richard and Harold wants to be the 'new' Daniel Levy.

It's an odd statement from WBA, classless and without parallel.

Can't SB buy out his contract?

Wouldn't that be a trump card! At just 15k a week, buying out the contract would be less than 1.5m.

There are clauses that govern termination and breach which is why this doesn't happen in reality, but it'd be really hilarious if on deadline day we pulled something huge like that over on Peace.
