Too many non EU players on their books. It's why they loaned Paulinho back to China and why they're also looking to offload Mina.

Fair enough. Doesn't say we're in for him of course. This may be why we're holding back on Grealish, in case something like this crops up.

O. Dembele seems exactly the kind of player Barca would be insisting on a buy-back clause for in any sale - if this is the case, I cant see us dealing.

If Dembele is staying then you would assume that would scupper a real improvement at CM by bringing in a top target.

In terms of natural ability the the Barca Dembele is fantastic , though I often thought one of the main criticisms he faced was his work rate and his defensive efforts - so with that in mind I wouldn't have thought him a natural Poch target... defensive contribution is why i thought he favoured Zaha as a wide player over many more prolific than him

If we could sign Dembele from Barca on a permanent transfer that would be the biggest transfer coup Levy has pulled off certainly since signing Modric and arguably in his whole time here.

I'd probably consider the likelihood that it'd be a loan deal and is probably our backup option.

Is the Barca Dembele better than the Celtic Dembele? He's also linked to Arse according to the papers (Barca Dembele, not the Celtic Dembele)

Barca's Dembele is in a different class to Celtics Dembele. Also good to hear our Dembele isn't going as well. Far too many Dembeles

Would love O.Dembele, think Poch could get the best out of him. Had a mixed season with Barca, think he got injured early on but towards the end of the season he put in some good performances.

I can only see this being a loan, the fee they paid for him was a ridiculous amount, I can't see them willing to take a big loss in such a short period on a youngster who has bags of potential...

hmm, ousmane is good with heaps of potential but we already have lucas and lamela who play on the right. doesnt make much sense unless poch plans on using lamela more centrally this season. would be a nice addition if its a loan with an option to buy.

Transfermarkt lists Dembele's fee at £103.5m when he went from Dortmund to Barca.....so it's safe to say that a permanent deal is unlikley at this stage. Barca would at least want to make their money back despite what has been a fairly unsuccesful spell for him there.

Can’t imagine it happening. Surely Barca are going to want to recoup most/if not all the rediculous transfer fee they paid for him. Other thing which puts me off him is his questionable attitude. Recall Deschamps mentioning this a couple of weeks ago. Not sure I would want a loan either as can’t see his transfer fee coming down that much in space of 12 months where we would be in a position to buy him.

Doubt Barce would consider selling O Dembele. You don’t pay 120m+ for a young player and expects immediate returns. It will be a loan at most.

I can't see us getting Dembele in on anything other than a loan.
Arsenal interested, but can't offer CL football, but we know that doesn't matter to some players as long as there's a big wage.
Love for us to get him, but I simply don't see it happening.

I can’t see it happening either, he’d cost more than the £60m which is apparently our ceiling for a single player. The only way to avoid a buyback clause would surely be to pay a similar figure to the initial outlay. But you never know.

Uhm, aren't the players being offered by agents to different clubs all the time? If Dembele would consider Spurs it's great, but still we would need to reach agreement with Barca, and I doubt they would agree to only loan him.

Great news regarding Moussa.

I'd love O.Dembele - but could only see us getting him in on loan as a last minute signing if we fail to get Martial or Zaha

I guess the prospect of signing Ousmane is why we’ve yet to firm up our interest in Zaha - which is what Hercules has alluded to. I just hope we don’t miss out on both by messing Zaha around and meet the reported deadline for him (Hercules).

‘Our’ Dembele staying leaves me feeling mixed. He was terrific in games last season, particularly the Arsenal game at Wembley, but is likely to sustain more injuries, and miss matches. To move forward we need a full time younger replacement, yet I can’t see that happening if he’s still part of the squad.

One thing I'll say is Barca will likely not get their money back no matter who they sell to.
