Made up that Mousa is staying, class player & I think, if we manage his playing time this Season he can still be immense for us

Huge potential but would almost certainly be a loan without us having a buying option. No point doing that imo.

(Unless of course we're desperate on deadline day...)

Why no option? If he doesn't meet expectations we're not obligated to buy him.

Dembele staying means also with Dier, Winks, Josh staying and Wanyama there is very little chance of us signing a CM

Do Barca want rid of OD or just want a decent club to give him playing time and experience ? If they want rid why ? If it is playing time no way will they give an option to buy and that would make it a complete non starter for us I would have thought.

Don’t see the point of Dembele on loan unless there’s a purchase fee agreed. He’d take a while to settle I imagine

before he moved to Barca people on here were drooling over Dembele, but now there is a solid link he's not good enough? I dosent always work out at a club like Barca for everyone, the teams entirely build around Messi. some of you are so fickle!

Some of the deals the likes of Barca have done in recent years are very anti-Levy. They usually want to include affordable buy-backs and other clauses. No doubt they'd charge a massive loan fee too.

Agree with others in that it'd be a last minute desperation grab if anything. If they were willing to sell at a similar price to Zaha/Martial I could see us going for it though.

I do wonder if this is all agent led and when it comes to it Barca end up being unwilling to lose him.

He's quality, but we won't get him, so don't worry about it, Chris.

Dembele will be used sparingly this year. Winks has had multiple injuries and can't be trusted to stay fit for a whole season yet. Onomah hasn't played CM for the first team before. Dier has been very hot and cold for a while and Wanyama is still getting over that big injury.

There's still plenty of reason to be looking for a new CM. Dembele staying just means we don't have to hope the new boy hits the ground running and carries the team right from the off.

Goat said “being offered around by agents” - could be that Barca want rid/want some experience. Could also be that his agent is trying to remind them to play him and boost his profile ahead of the new season.

would be a fantastic signing but can't see barca letting him go permanently for a fee anywhere near what we could afford having signed him for 100m+ last summer

Mousa staying is good news, but he's no longer first choice out there for me. On the other Dembele. That could certainly be a coup, but I imagine his wages would be rather high given his Barca playing time last season was consistent, and the fact they paid €105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons

I'd be delighted if Moose was to stay personally. And here's hoping Hugo can be a deciding factor for the other Dembele, because he looked like a prospect.

Ousmane Dembele? Can't see it myself. Surely Barca will want something back on their huge original outlay? Unless it's a loan...

Can see us trying the new “in thing” and trying to get him on a 2 year loan.

Even if it has no option to buy it’ll only cost us his wages (a guess at £7m a year). For 2 years we would have a quality player for very little outlay, with more money to spend elsewhere.

My issue with O.Dembele becoming in option is just that, it's another option. I think Levy needs to be focused on one target and up against the wall to actually pay the amount required to seal a deal for Zaha or Martial.

Lets not pretend that Zaha and Martial aren’t in the 50-70 bracket themselves though. That’s the market we’re now in. Like a few others have said, zero chance they get their initial investment back. I don’t think the Dembele fee would be too different to that of the aforementioned Zaha and Martial.
