I don't think anything will happen today to be honest - at least in public - I think negotiations for Fab will continue - Levy is as shrewd as they come - he'll get the price knocked down as far as possible - which will mean the transfer probably won't be done until deadline day imo.

Although saying that, if the transfer is left until deadline day, Sevilla may think they can then force our hand due to timescales.....hmmmm

Ok I think it's fair to say I haven't a scooby doo lol

exactly its all transfer mind games. If Redknapp said we really wanted Fabiano in the Press Del Nido would see this and know he would have the upper hand and can demand for his money however, at the moment we have the upper hand as we know they need to sell. We have the best chairman in the league IMO.

I dont think Del Nido needs any evidence that we are intersted in fabiano.

I will take Huntelaar ahead of Fabiano but will definitely take the two without asking any blinking.

also even if a deal has been agreed for keane to leave I don't think that would be announced until we get fabiano in because being a striker down would strengthen that seville cocks hand!.....so that said I think activity in and out will happen pretty much all at once, but I hope that's soon because I'm sure my mrs will leave me if I spend anymore time on here!......anyone got a spare room?

I reckon the Huntelaar stuff is just being fed into the media to keep Del Nido concerned that we might walk away from Fab deal. You always need to convince the other side that you have alternatives.

As we currently have 5 strikers, that wouldn't be a concern. Huntelaar is being mentioned because Milan want to replace him with Ibrahimovic and Spurs previously had an interest when he left Madrid.

Still hoping we pull off a major unseen signing, someone like Gerrard... (yeah I know I'm obsessed).
But that's what I love about transfer deadline approaching, you never know if you'll sign a berbatov, Modric or a Raziak right up until that last minute.

Of those mentioned I am less concerned about signing Young given our current options. Strikers, midfield general, job done.

Nope, I don't think that's the reason.

Maybe KJH is the smokescreen that will enable us to get Fabiano, if Del boy thinks were seriously in for KJH then maybe Fabs price will come down like its being reported this morning? just a thought.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...there's no such thing as a smokescreen.

If we're not properly in for KJH then KJH's agent isn't going to play along because it is in his interests to tout his client about as much as possible.

There is such a thing as a smokescreen, just not in the way people seem to think. It's more of an inadvertant smokescreen. The media link us with players, agents link us with their players etc etc. This in itself creates a smokescreen for players we are actually interested in.

Unless things have changed dramatically in the last 24 hours, Huntelaar is just another option if we cannot get Fabiano.

I think it can be done it just depends on the players and clubs willingness to do the deal and how much groundwork has already been laid.

Seems to me the sticking points are more likely to the the exits of people like Keane, he must realise that he can get a far better deal out of it by being awkward. If the ITKs are right then the groundwork on many of these deals has been laid long ago.

Yes. It depends. Quite a lot. I suspect, we're talking at best 50% chance of one deal, 20-25% for the next likely. Not overly encouraging odds - and far, far removed from the expecatations and hype I see on here - although my fingers are crossed and I'm convinced every effort is being made to conclude them.

why would it be remarkable, the same thing happens every year, every transfer window.

Man city got taken over, within 24 hours they had robiniho. Transfers can be done pretty quickly once a fee has agreed. I would imagine that personal terms have all but been agreed by diarra and fab through their agents

Not exactly the most unremarkable of examples, is it? Club gets bought by some of the richest Sheikh's in the world and snaffle a 30m+ quid player the day before transfer deadline: yawn, yawn, yawn. Not again!

I'm probably a bit old so have forgotten the times clubs have frequently unveiled multiple signings on or just before deadline day. We certainly don't make a habit of it.

And, again, "I would imagine" - a dangerous phrase. It's all too easy in here to let your imagination run wild. None of the ITK I've read leads me to think a deal will be concluded by Tuesday. It could be. But it will take work. And the ITK assures me that work is being done. So I'm hopeful. But not expecting.

It's all about pulling off with you isn't it?

I was wondering who would oblige with that, sir. I'm delighted it was you.

I love the way we are all experts in the inner workings of transfers

 All the more remarkable given the years we've all pissed away glued to forums and watching every move. You'd think we'd have figured it out by now.

Don't they have a board meeting before home games - maybe the final transfer push will be decided today?

with Huntelaar seemingly off to Scalke as per Adriano Galliani and now Gabriele Marcotti's info, starting to think that we may have to make to with what we've got in terms of squad. May not be such a bad thing
