If harry wants a player, he doesnt have to be available for the CL

I was talking about this mornings ITK.

Ashley Young: Looking good I suppose he would like to come here and the CL really does help and interests him, villa looking to sell and believe they have players who can take Young's position so just need to get a price sorted etc...

Well, it might excite him but he aint gonna be able to play in it.

I doubt anything will happen today, we have an important matter of a game v Wigan. Looks to me like it'll all go to the wire.

Good point.

I suppose he'd still have a fair chance of playing in the knockout stages and even if we came third we'd be in the Europa League which is more than Villa have got.

I certainly hope we try a push things a little earlier. Really dont want to be hunting around for scraps like we have done so before.

I have faith in Levy and I am sure he has multiple alternatives.

I reckon the Huntelaar stuff is just being fed into the media to keep Del Nido concerned that we might walk away from Fab deal. You always need to convince the other side that you have alternatives.

I wonder if we'll get the old Levy transfer unveiling in the last minutes of the transfer window to add to the dramatic effect.

Like when we unveiled Chimbonda at midnight along with a picture of him in a spurs shirt in broad daylight. Wouldn't surprise me if deals arn't finalised Monday, Tuesday morning then five to six on glorious SKYNEWS HD.... If Levy wants his "Klinsmann momment" what better than to unveil £40-50M pounds of players.

Personally think we'll get maybe one of the main targets and a back up depending on who goes.

exactly its all transfer mind games. If Redknapp said we really wanted Fabiano in the Press Del Nido would see this and know he would have the upper hand and can demand for his money however, at the moment we have the upper hand as we know they need to sell. We have the best chairman in the league IMO.

Makes no difference as transfers are agreed between agents and chairman/DoF nowadays. Will be interesting to see if Fabiano/Diarra/Young play.

1. Fabiano
2. Diarra
3. Young

That order of importance. Get the Fabiano one thrashed out, then try and pull the other 2 off.

Diarra will add depth to centre midfield. I think he could be useful away in the Champions League especially.

Young would be quality under Harry in this team. I would be delighted if we pulled it off, but it's only a player we want rather than need.

Marcotti on Twitter has Huntelaar off to Schalke for 12 to 15 mill, also has Raul Meireles done to Bindippers for 10.7 mill...Hodgson buying very wisely, they might even finish in the top 6 this year ;o)

That's not to say he isn't a player we're interested or targetting. It may be a matter of forcing Sevillas hand, but it doesn't mean we aren't actively interested in signing Huntelaar.

He's actually realised that Benitez tactics of 'give the ball to Gerrard, who in turn gives the ball to Torres'....doesn't always work!
