It has...but I still, absolutely, would not sell him this Summer, and to Chelsea ever.

Nonsense. If Modric has asked not to play, then grant him his wish. He can sit in the stands or wash dishes. We'll carry on without him.

Why give him his wish? Five years is a long time and if Modric wants to ruin his career, that's his lookout. We've got a football team to run. Just freeze him out until he sees sense.

I, personally, will contribute towards the club not losing financially to ruin his career, rather than sell him this Summer to Chelsea.

Redknapp just confirmed Modric said he wasn't right to play at 11:30 :bang: Said this is the worst pre-season he has ever known, and the Modric thing, in particular, has cast a cloud over everything. Said he should either be kept, or sold 2 months ago.

And I repeat, it is worth this to not let Cheslea bully us out of a player, especially using the methods they did, and seriously trying to underpay us by unsettling the player, and then leaving him to sulk his way to a move. This is about the big picture.

Harry just admitted we have had a bad pre season with all the player uncertainty and could sense a bad feeling at the club.

The nightmare scenario of us signing Parker,Bellamy and Cole is coming true.

What is the legal situation with a player under contract who refuses to play and demands to move?

What happened with Pandev that he was allowed to buy his way out of his contract and could this happen with Modric here?

Also what was that rule in regards to a club being able to buy a player out of their contract after a certain period or at a certain age that supposedly the big clubs had made a gentleman's agreement not to enforce (I'd not be at all surprised to see Chelsea become the first club to break any such agreement)

I can't wait for the window to close. I have no doubt Modric will just get on with it when the window closes. He got on with it today even though he didn't look 100%. I don't think he's as unprofessional as he is made out to be. I can understand he's upset that we're not in the Champions League, and that we haven't done a lot in the transfer window. I don't think he'll throw a strop when the window closes though.
