Not quite getting the point. Rooney wanted to move this time last year, yet he has managed to drag himself into some decent performances for United Why should we enhance scum like Chelsea? He WILL perform for us when he has no other option, and as I said.....this is no longer about Modric in particular, its about the club we all love standing up and being counted and showing rival teams we aim to match their ambitions by buying top players, not rolling over and accepting eternal mediocrity.

Rooney is on £250,000 a week and since when were we as BIG as United?

Maybe I missed the 2 Champions Leagues and the 19 League titles!

United have also just added the likes of Young,Jones,Wellbeck,Hernandez and Smalling to their team and they actually look a far better team now than when they had Ronaldo.

None of those players cost money that we couldn't have afforded!

There are tons of very,very,good players out there who would be more than delighted to play for a team like SPURS!

Then you have missed the point.
Those of us saying he must not be sold at any cost this Summer are not saying so because we desperately want him and don't understand that he doens't want us. Or because we desperately hope he will change his mind and desperately want us again.
It is because selling him will, once again, show that we can be bullied out of a player, only this time it will be when we have a better team, and one that, ironically, could actually push Chelsea this season, and with a player with 5 years left on his contract, and not 1.
It is because it will firmly establish us in the minds of players as unambitious also rans.
It is because it will make Daniel Levy look like a buffoon, totally devoid of credibility.

As I have said over and over again, I will happily see the little shi'ite sold in January - just so long as it is not to Chelsea. I would rather acacept £10 M less from an overseas team than sell him to Chelsea. I would rather see him sit on the bench for 4 years and ruin his career, than go to Chelsea.
