Whoever it was that guessed Scott Sinclaire doesn't seem to have read the cryptic properly.

It doesn't say the player is / was a Swansea player - its a bit more crytic than that as it says shares his identity with the Swan's Home.

swans live on rivers, rio is spanish for river...hope that's not it.

Don't think so as I read it as the four are all strikers

That's a shedload of cash for a handfull of goals and a few appearances last year.

This market is out of control. :bang:

This. Its nuts he's valued so highly.

I'm hoping for 2 strikers in and 1st rate CB pardner for Kaboul.

The market for English players seems to be even more inflated than normal, probably because of the new rules regarding English players (and the benefits of having squad members under 21).

We should be covered in that department so there isn't really any need for us to get involved in these bidding wars until we've filled the positions we really need someone in.

Having players like Jones, Henderson and Wickham are all well and good but I think we need to fill our key positions before we focus on yoof (or at least at the same time).

I make you completely right there! Just the Cretin one to get now i reckon.

although, Wycombe - Wanderers - Cahill or, if we are talking strikers - Kevin Davies! Ha, actually no, this is getting stupid now. I know i've added to it but shouldn't there be a thread for guessing these cryptics? Or is there already?

I thought Son of a Cretin referred to Berbatov? His dad is a rapist I guess that qualifies him as a cretin...

Not sure if anyone discussed the son of a hackney hairdresser? That would be Beckham...

I don't want to say which have been gussed right or wrong but it's amazing that some people have solved the cryptics with really clever, intelligent guesses, that fit the clues so well but happen to be completely wrong.

It really shows how the cryptics can be twisted lots of different ways.

Lets try The Goat Cryptic challenge....

Swansea City play at the Libery Stadium in a ground share with the Osprey's (Rugby team). An Osprey is a Sparrow Hawk, the Togo national teams nickname is 'The Sparrow Hawks', Adebayor plays in the *Blue* of ManCity and also represents the 'Sparrow Hawks'. :hump:

Sounds like Ms.Spears country? Ms Spears grew up in the USA in the state of Mississippi - Giuseppe sounds like Mississippi, Giuseppe Rossi grew up in the USA left for Parma at age 12 then ended up in Britain(y). Rossi also plays in the *Yellow* of Villarreal. :hump:

The Hackney Hairdresser, David Beckhams Mum was a hairdresser and his Dad worked in Hackney.. :hump:

Lots of 'dos santos' flying about... the cretin one im not sure about

Sunderland agree £13m fee for Wickham.

Bullet dodged. Though shame if it means they wont want Crouch now.

Lots of reports about our interest is Tasci this morning. A cheaper possibly more cultured alternative to Cahill?

Makes sense. With Dawson and Kaboul we have our powerful/more agricultural CB sorted, so we need a more cultured and quicker partner for them (a young King/Woodgate). Therefore he'd probably be a better fit for our need than Cahill who is more like Dawson and Kaboul.

Did anyone get the goats cryptics?

Best guess so far was last night:

Number 3 is Drogba

Ms Spears country= Brittany

Drogba learnt his trade playing for En Avant Guingamp before joining Marseille. Guingamp is in Brittany

They are IMO
Rossi
Adebayor
Drogba
Leandro

Leandro's full name is Leandro Damião da Silva dos Santos

Also all 4 are blue AND yellow:
Blue - Italy, City, Chelsea, Brazil
Yellow - Villarreal, Togo, Ivory Coast, Brazil

Think Drogba is probably out of the running now though after our Modric spat with Chelsea.

Indeed. Safety net, like Ryantegan said. :bang:

Great reading all the guesses tho, better than doing work any day!
