I'm so chuffed that we have rectified the need for pace in the wide areas.

Great stuff.

Amen. A-fucking-men.

Aside from timing, this has been the most intelligent and tailored-to-weaknesses transfer window at Spurs I believe that I have witnessed. Last season, and really since 2013 despite all those additions, we had a ridiculous lack of pace, aggressive movement, confidence on the dribble, depth, and balance (the last two have even been a problem since even the Bale and Lennon years), and I'm absolutely delighted that we've finally addressed these problems despite multiple opportunities to do so in the past.

He was voted player of the tournament few weeks ago so I thought I'd ask about him, response was "yeh he's ok". Make of that will but I doubt we lost the next Ronaldo as some seem to think.

Tend to agree, good young player but there are better prospects still at the club.

The one thing about this summer, is all our transfers have been fairly young players with their best years ahead of them. No middle of the road journeymen this far.

Defence needed some added depth and competition for places
Alderweireld - 26
Trippier - 24
Wimmer - 22
Added a RB with PL experience to push/cover Walker. A PL experienced CB used to playing alongside Jan. A young LCB who already has some European experience. Issue addressed.

We needed pace in the wide/advanced areas
Njie - 22
Son - 23
Pace to burn, versatility, and decent technique. Issue addressed.

So we now have pretty much all the ITK confirming we want a CM/DM and CF, so why not believe that issue will be addressed also.
The previous 5 signings this summer are, I my opinion excellent signings that give us greater strength, making us stronger as a starting eleven, and also in depth. The last two pieces of the puzzle will be likewise I believe. They may be under the radar, they may be leftfield signings, but given the signings so far, I'm confident they'll fit what we need as a squad.

With Clinton and Son, we now have a plethora of AMs - Clinton, Son, Eriksen, Chadli, Pritchard, Carroll, Lamela, Townsend, Dembele - 9 players for 3 spots.

Lamela seems certain to leave at this point, but it seems like more than Lamela have to move from this group to keep everyone happy.
My money is on Lamela, Lennon, Carroll leaving and Townsend going at the death, with the possibility of Berahino arriving who can play on the left hand side. Personally do not want Lamela to leave, but it would leave us with:

Chadli, Njie, Eriksen, Pritchard, Onomah, Son, Dembele- with the possibility of Berahino as another left wing option.

Sorry. Signing Son's has completely gone off the radar for me now. Dont really care about that now. Im absolutely gutted over losing Azzaoui for nothing. Ugh. Terrible news. Kids gonna be a star one day and we need a winger coming up through the academy after Oduwa. This is why you sign your best youths to contracts before they get taken from underneath us. Ugh.

Wait wtf, what is this? What happened with Azza?

Gone to Wolfsburg

Fuck. More likely for him to play sooner, but fuck. Wolfsburg continue to aggressively target the Belgian market (but fuck em, I don't like Wolfsburg at all). Damn shame he's gone, even if it's unlikely he'll be with the first team for us for some time. I'm a big fan of his playing style, and he's always been a pleasure to watch play.

We're massively missing a striker who can play up top alone in the higher age brackets I would have thought. Agree we are stacked elsewhere though

For U21 and U19s I can see that I guess. I was thinking more of the first teams needs i.e. breaking through next season. Assuming N'Jie and Son work out that's 3 young forwards including Kane in the squad (not even including someone like Berahino).

The pie and chips brigade will still be moaning that they are all inverted though!

I think re our glut of AMs - Lamela and Lennon will go this window, and Dembele and Carroll will go in Jan (to balance the books on this window's overspend). I think Townsend will be kept around as our 4th wide player, as he's a similar style to the others/fits the system best.

Our squad looks ok now for wide attacking men....we should possibly be looking at a goalscoring No 10 who could also play as a no.9 when Kane is unavailable whilst competing with Eriksen for the no.10 spot.
Hard to find i know.

I think we're well-stocked at the No 10 with Eriksen and Pritchard. Write it down, feel free to chastise later if I'm wrong, but I really think Pritchard is going to surprise some folks as the season goes on.

I agree that Pritchard looks like a player, but he will be eased in this season, Europa LeaguE & cups , Eriksen needs a real kick up the arse imo, he can be top quality if he had real competition, atm he doesn't...and i mean we need a no.10 that can play up top too when Kane needs a rest....not easy.i know.

I absolutely agree that Eriksen needs more competition. I think he seemed to respond rather well to Holtby putting in some strong performances in the fall a couple seasons ago. I think Pritchard will be applying pressure sooner rather than later. Pritch's advantage is not only in his strong ability, but how incredibly well-suited he is to Poch's system. The system promotes congestion high up the pitch, and Pritchard has the ability to create his own space with his quick feet, an ability which Eriksen does not have.

I think we have a couple No 10's now capable of playing up top in Chadli and Son. Personally, I'm not keen on that sort of No 10, but rather the types who can make their own space but also create plays for others. The striker-type No 10's work better in more open, counter-attacking systems, and we just don't play a system at all conducive to that type of player. That having been said, it would be fun to see Son playing there in a cup match for instance just to see how it works.

agreed!
Do you think we'll still get a striker in?

If we can get rid of Fazio, Lennon, Ade, Lamela and get a ST and DM of real quality this will have been a briliant window.

Didn't think Son would happen, seriously good signing.

ITKs all seem confident. ST, CM and a youngster from one of them. (Can't remember who so don't want to call it wrong)
