I get sucked into it every year thinking it will be different, but its always the same.

all window and the last couple of weeks

"we're gonna be busy the last week / days!"

last week / days come around
"don't expect us to be busy"

Just don’t see how Ndombele fits in to a hard working midfield like ours. I knew we’d be stuck with him though, any sensible club that could afford him would be bonkers to take him off our hands.
He’s become a real pain in the arse now that our system is less forgiving of passengers like him. Nuno’s system would be perfect for a young Eriksen

The part that is frustrating to me is that this may very well be our last season with Kane and, unless Paratici pulls something out of a hat in the next 24 hours, we will have failed to take advantage of the opportunity that presents.

Adding Traore would have given us an x-factor that we lack without him, and that the other names that have been mooted are unlikely to be able to provide. Managers up and down the Premier League would have been absolutely shitting themselves trying to plan for how in the world they could possibly contain Traore without opening up loads of space for Kane, Son, and Dele. It would have posed problems to defenses that may well have been impossible to solve. Neither Bergwijn nor Lucas, nor the other attackers we might be able to land with only deadline day remaining, are likely to have anything close to the same impact.

I’m not going to complain about the window as a whole, which stands at a solid 6.5 or 7/10 as far as I’m concerned. Romero and Emerson should strengthen our biggest weakness from last season and the CM situation is largely out of our control with Ndombele’s wages making him impossible to move. Bryan looks like an absolute gem and Sarr is sound long-term planning.

But despite the general adequacy of the business we have done, what stings is the business we’ve failed to do. Yet again we go into the season with a gaping hole at a key position in the best XI. We’ve done okay, only okay, and with us getting one more season out of Kane there was a chance to do so much more. It has to go down as a disappointment.

My guess is like we saw with Tanganga, he was available on loan, and one performance later his agent was told he's going nowhere. Dier and Sanchez were both available at the start of the summer but DS wanted to prove himself and Dier had no interest. They've both played well for a few games and long term I certainly don't see either of them in our team if we want CL but I think for now, FP is happy to go along with them alongside Romero.

Are they playing well now because of the threat of being sold though? It’s amazing what a bit of motivation can do. Let’s see if they are both still as effective when they know their jobs are safe for another year.

So the club is happy to lose 26 goals, and the rotation provided by Bale and Vinicius without bringing in any replacements at all? I can't fathom the negligence to be honest. That's just mental.

24 hours. Things have already yo-yo'd more today than my non-existent cryptocurrency wallet.

Please hold your negativity for just one more day. All I ask.

This is my main issue. We've had years of seeing how shit they both are, how badly they cost us in key moments, yet a couple of ok performances and suddenly they're reborn?

No. They're not good enough. Neither is Winks.

We have close to 7 million posts on here. Go find me one where someone wanted to get rid of any of them under AVB. We've enough idiots on here you'll probably manage it! Suggesting that we were clamouring to get rid of Dembeleat any stage is just re-writing history.

Before realising it was a typo I read that as Dem-bleat and thought it was a very niche GOAT reference.

our downfall with mourinho was mostly his fault. He had kane and son fit for most of the season, chose to not play Bale for the vast majority of games and chose to sit deep and defend 1x0 leads even though our defense was shambles. I fully expect Nuno to do a better job with this squad.
Agree but wrong thread

I agree that we cant just go and waste 50m on another midfielder but we have been told value in other leagues due to financial issues and if that is the case we should of been able to find a solution. Its not like the creativity issue is new.
Well I think we can see that values haven't really dropped and even if they have to get the sort of player we would all like would cost over 100k a week in wages.

These deals are so expensive so they can't just ignore existing assets.

Manic Monday sure lived up to its name in the last hour or two on here!

If Nuno thinks Sanchez /Dier are good enough to partner Romero in the long run, then got to give him the benefit of doubt. Sanchez even though he makes mistakes has also shown before he is good enough, so would hope it's him and not Dier.

Back to my popcorn and reading this thread

26 goals that did fuck all for us, given the shite state of last season. That's a very black and white statement to what is a heavily nuanced conversation.

I actually think Ndombele would work really well in our current setup... 2 super hardworking defensive players would mask his deficiencies.
He’s too unreliable. If he worked hard and actually wanted to be here, he’d be perfect but this isn’t a blip we’re seeing from him; he’s never seemingly settled into our club for whatever reason, and the offloading of Sissoko and Aurier will probably deepen his sense of disengagement. I think anyone expecting a ‘breakout’ season from him is going to be very disappointed

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: at half of you lot. Coming across as a right bunch of self entitled dicks.

'Daddy promised me new toys, PROMISED!!!'

Pretty embarrassing to be honest.

Genuinely no one is coming across like that.

People are just voicing their concerns, which they have every right to do.

Are we playing with a formation that requires nr10 like Eriksen? Also no, and it's quite important
Maybe because we do not have one? How do you think the stadium will respond when we play like we did yesterday with Skipp/Høibjerg and are loosing? We had fantastic spells under Mourinho as well, and were top of the league, but in the end we palyed to defensively and had NO creativity, this will not change if we do not have creative players?

Love how everyone's saying it's the same every year when last season most thought it was our best transfer window in ages and, aside from a CB, we ticked every box.

I get the complaints but some of the histrionics are way over the top. Very few clubs in Europe have had a great window and we've done a lot better than most.
