This is what I posted yesterday afternoon bts in reply to "Levy is the one pushing this deal".
From that, the biggest takeaway for me is how influential Paratici still is at the club.

Also would love to know Gabbanini's 'better options' too.

Think the club needs to get back into the habit of poaching up and coming homegrown players from “lesser” clubs, I know that’s a harder thing to do these days given how awash the league is with money, but it’s important to have a core of home grown players. We really should be aiming to nab one or two each summer. Maddison has shown that there value to be had if we court the right players at the right time.

Let’s also hope that we can start giving our own youngsters a proper route to the first team too.

Tbh I’ve not got a problem with that because nearly every transfer he’s been behind has been positive- in some cases exceptional.

Thank you for the info as always. Does make one wonder if this still happens if we can’t include any deadwood in the deal. Forrest certainly seem, outwardly at least, pretty set on their £50-55 mil valuation.

I wouldn’t think there’s even a possibility of a deal without some deadwood moving in the opposite direction.

Haven't we been doing that a little bit more of the last two or three seasons? (Devine, Lankshear, Soon-Sop (sp?) Bell, Phillips, etc)?

Something else to add. Ange hasn't identified or asked for any of the players that have come in. He's told the club what positions he thinks need strengthening and what those players will need to be able to do. The club has then presented him with a list for each position and he's yay or neighed them. The powers that be have then made the final decision which ones they could do.

When you hear journalists saying about Madison for example "Ange really pushed fo him, he was his first choice", the fact is he was all but certainly coming anyway regardless of who came in, and they just wanted the gaffer to have the final say.

This is me eating a bit of humble pie here, because this is how things should be done and I've been slagging Levy all Summer. I will of course caveat this with.... It's took him 22 years to work it out and it's only one window( that isn't even over).

Fact is our HG numbers are an issue going forward. If we don't get on an even keel this Summer it could well affect future windows pushing us to buy a British lesser player when we could pick up a steal in the foreign market.

Having a manage insist on a specific player has it's problems but it's also bad when we have a list of multiple options but they rapidly decrease in quality and we tend to prefer the cheaper/essier options.

Ideally, I'd like Ange to be suggesting some players too.

None needed as probability would state even a blind guy eventually gets a bullseye if someone points in the right direction. Thanks for all the ITK. we're all grateful.

Im sure he has input mate, this was just how it was put to me this afternoon. Fact is if he's looking at and analysing those players put to him and he's agreeing to them that's good enough for me.

It’s good to see that the club is doing long term planning on the football not just the property side.

Is that really a strength? If he is coaching, does he really have time to be properly scouting? It really should be more than, “I saw this bloke play once, we should sign him!”

It sounds like it is working the way it should - manager identifies profile, and attributes needed and scouts use that to identify appropriate targets.

Broadly agree and can almost certainly see him back in an official capacity.

Question would actually be how he and Scott Munn work together but i'm going to suggest this is a relationship that all parties are aware of and each understanding of their own remit.

Back to the ITK and i'm coming round to the idea of the Johnson deal and if this allows further flexibility in future transfer windows then you can see the added appeal.

Yep. As long as Ange gets the veto on a specific players though, it's manageable I guess.

With that in mind, I would have thought we'd made Raya an absolute priority and necessity rather than moving onto plan B with Vic so early in the window.

But I guess it was just as important to get a goalkeeper in place for pre season.
