It's funny, how some people will believe 100% his comments to a newspaper but won't believe his Tweet.

It's funny how some people won't believe the newspaper article at all yet will believe a self serving Tweet is accurate.

The truth is he probably meant what he said in the newspaper and wants more money and is being pushed stupidly by agents, but he also wants to say like he mentions in his Tweet.

He's hardly innocent nor is he a complete wanker.
If it's true and he's on 8k a week then the dude deserves a good payrise. If you work hard then you should be rewarded. I would never condone the kind of stuff that he's reportedly saying in the newspaper but I wouldn't take anything a newspaper said as gospel. There's no need to hang him based on that kind of evidence, nor is there any reason to hang him for wanting more money.

AIA tour squad: I believe Soldado was in fact travelling, but not playing. A bit tricky with the conflicting reports on Paulinho, it was earlier stated that he could be kept. Chiriches was not on the tour. Stambouli was, underlining my suspicion that he will be a Yid next season too. Walker didn't travel (?), but he might have been injured.

Was Fazio there?

That wouldn't seem like many 'outs', especially as we are likely to have Pritchard and Alli involved in the 1st team squad, as well as players like Winks/Onomah making a slight impact (you'd have thought). We've also already signed Wimmer. We are obviously looking for one more CM, a wing forward (from other ITK) and perhaps another CB and Striker.

You'd have to think that we would be shifting more than the 4 players left off of the tour.

We have obviously lost Friedel, Khumalo and probably Ceballos too but they hardly constituted first team players by the end. You'd have to think that little snippet from AliZ about others being actively looked at in regards to selling is accurate..

We probably need to lose a minimum NET 4 players (excluding Friedel, Cenballos and Khumalo - but including Holtby and Lennon )- so if we want 4 in that's 8 out, and that's just to ensure we don't end up with surplus players we need to loan out.

Some of the posts here and elsewhere have been disappointing

Pretty sure it's only down to the disappointment of him hanging his dirty laundry in public.
There's such a positive feeling about the emergence of Spurs' youth at the moment that this leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
I've got a lot of time for Bentaleb, and see him as future captain material, so a bit gutted he's going about things this way.
It's been awhile since anyone has moaned about pay negotiations at Spurs, which makes me think he's being badly advised...

Saying that, it shows you how mad the football world has become when people are suggesting we should be paying a 20-year-old youth product £70,000 a week because 'that's the going rate' etc. No wonder people are losing interest in the game.

Who suggested that?

Having a lot of time for Bentaleb as a player and as someone that clearly works hard and professionally in training, is different to thinking its actually pretty cr***y behaviour from him and his agent. And like Bale, don't be fooled that this is all the agent. There are direct quotes from Bentaleb in there and while he doesn't actually say he wants to leave, only that he wants his contract sorted out soon, he drops in the 'flattering interest' thing which is totally disrespectful.

Yes, he is a good prospect. But let's not pretend he has not had some poor displays at times last season and still has a lot to learn. I'm pretty sure what Spurs are offering him is on par with other players at the same stage of development, we're generally pretty good at Spurs at rewarding players with improved contracts and therefore I'm more inclined to lean on Levy's side in terms of the reasonability of what is being offered.

Both Bentaleb and his agent say negotiations are on-going, so why not just let them go the course. This move stinks to be fair and i'd actually almost say sell him just to make a point. Nobody is bigger than the club and £70K may be the going rate elsewhere, but it isn't here. So if you want to continue your development at a club you claim to respect, then accept the offer ont he table, or continue to negotiate to justify your request for more.

Don't disrespect the fans that have supported you, by your own admission, by dragging everything into the press. I've seen loads of links to Arsenal today - that's probably been fed deliberately by his agent with his authorisation as well.

Very dissappointed in him and he's gone down a lot in my estimation. Certainly not a future Spurs captain by any stretch, whether he ends up being a captain elsewhere or not.

But that I had all the wisdom at 20 years old that you say Bentaleb should have at the same age. I'd be someone very special indeed by now.

Don't insult his intelligence, at 20 years old you're an adult and he knows exactly what he is doing.

Hilarious. You live in a very black and white world my friend. No wonder you get so out of your tree based on one newspaper report.

All I'm saying is that people need to wake up and learn following the Berbatov, Modric and Bale sagas, it was never their agents leading the players astray, each time it was the player instructing their agents to make the moves happen.

Moyes has been quoted as saying that Bale had his heart set on Real Madrid early doors and even Man Utd couldn't get his head turned no matter what they tried. It wasn't Bale's agent at all, it was Bale.

Bentaleb wants more money and he's willing to play dirty to get it. Nothing to do with his agent, IMO.

It's not one newspaper report, we've had several. First, we had his agent's quotes, then we had direct quotes from Bentaleb himself. Today, we've got loads of stories linking Bentaleb with Arsenal. It's not a conincidence, it's an orchestrated attack, designed to put huge pressure on Spurs to give them what they want.
