It's just his agent doing his job
Yep. Any agent worth his salt will know how important Bentaleb is to our team right now. He'll be pushing for a bumper contract and who can blame him. It's hard to argue he doesn't deserve at least what a Dembele or Paulinho are making. And Levy will know he's worth way too much to walk away.

The only thing that worries me a little bit, is Levy looking at Alli, Winks, Onomah and Veljkovic and asking Nabils agent, which clubs are interested and how much will they pay.

Milner is practically a Liverpool player now so this is a bit pointless but one way to solve the wages thing would be to give him a tasty sign-on fee
What does it matter how you give the player the money? Either the transfer fee, signing on fee and wages are affordable. Or they're not.

It's about how the money is allocated and the president it sets also. Put Milner on 150k a year and suddenly the rest of our squad what that.

Milner on £150k/pw!? Good player but that's fucking insane money regardless of free transfer or not, it's not like he's a world class midfielder or 24yrs old, Liverpool could end up with a 33yr old Milner sat on the bench (or worse) picking up £150k/pw for the next 2 years.

Sounds like Adebayor

Nabil will not be short of suitors should he decide to leave.

Someone earlier said that Milner is in £150k a week (I don't know if it's true). However, as pointed out by an earlier post, if Milner came to us and earned that much then the likes of Lloris, Kane and the rest would demand the same. The way to solve this would be to put Milner on £100k a week and cover the remaining £50k a week for that duration of the contract with a sign on fee

As i said earlier liverpool gave joe cole over £100k a week plus a £6m signing on fee.
I'm guessing that milner will get a signing on fee plus £150k a week.

Dont understand why Dier hasn't made the England U21 team...

Perhaps Southgate is still pissed off with him for turning down a call up earlier this season when he wanted to focus on playing with us. Either way he really deserves to play for England U21. Hell, I'd take him over the likes of those United donkeys, Smalling and Jones, in the proper squad.

Trix mentioned we are looking at a couple of players from Germany as MS alternatives. I'd love to know if one or both of the Bender brothers are seriously being looked at. Either would be excellent IMO and slot right in. Would love to hear something on this from Trix if he could and was allowed to say.

Could be Mario Vrancic - been the standout player for Paderborn this season.

James Milner $150k a week?! James f-ing Milner?!

A good player, will give you everything and can do a bit of everything, but not worth those wages. At the very most I'd have paid half of that for him.

He's signed through the summer of 2018.

How did the discussion even get to this?
Because if he's signed through 2018, it means he becomes for sale in 2016, or we risk losing a top player on a free or cheap which Levy won't do. And because we were in negotiations with him over a better contract, and now that appears to be on hold. Now is exactly when we should be looking to give him an extension, which we are, just need to let Levy and his agent hash it out.
