Not sure how players choose numbers - i.e. by seniority, when did Carroll get 28? He might be first in-line to request the 8 (even though he is unlikely to play that role.)

Otherwise, I expect Mason to grab 8, and hopefully hold onto it for several years.
I think Wimmer will wear Number 28 as that was his number at Koln. I think it will be free as I still have this feeling Carroll will go to Villa to play under Tim (Tim is a massive fan) to replace Cleverly. That's just my take on things though.

Think we will see who comes in. Mason might not be a starter by the end of the transfer window.
Maybe not, but he will still be a vital member of the team as Poch likes him and wants to keep him. Think he will get the 8.

You might be correct but we'll have to wait and see. (Don't worry a disagree isn't a neg, just i don't necessarily share the opinion).

Can't see Mason playing much by the end of the year. A nice story, but his early performances were a slight storm in a small teacup. He will be another Townsend - some early hype and a ridiculous England selection, which evolves into frustration and derision.

When does pre-season start? Cant see the likes of Kaboul, Vlad and Capoue wanting to be around for a Mo Po style pre-season training session so hopefully that will hasten their departure.

I don't think they are bothered about a bit of hairdryer treatment from MoPo.
They are on 30k+ a week.
For that kind of money, you can play the drums on my gonads using a horse whip.

I don't think I can disagree with this more

After half a season in the first team! I despair.

prof on nabil:
Just arrived from Galahad:
  • NB asking for significantly more than expected.
  • DL wants to get this done, even at an above market rate, but right now there's a big gap between them.
  • Negotiations still in progress but will take some compromise on both sides to get this done, especially from NB whose salary demand values him as being in the top few PL midfielders.
  • Fingers crossed that common sense prevails and a deal can get done.

He holds himself in very high estimation Nabil, doesn't he?

Which is fine, but he better keep stepping up he's putting himself into a pressure position

That doesn't sound good.

I like Bentaleb and am always proud to see players coming through the academy, but he has a long way to go in my opinion until he can be up there with the top midfielders, he was far from perfect last season (which you would expect TBF), and I can't see the club giving him anything more than a raise which recognises his progress, but also recognises that he's not there yet.

I'd like him to stay, but I can see someone like a Liverpool offering enough to tempt him away.
