Everyone, please stop moaning about the same old shit.
ITK have told us that Ange wants a type of player with certain attributes and has the last say.
It's a different era, so let's look at it with a new focus. What skillset does Kelly have compared to Sanchez and Dier apart from being HG.
We ain't buying a £50m CB as back up so just maybe it is seen that he is better back up than what we have now.
Improve the squad to fit in with playing style.
Do you really believe this? Do you honestly think that Ange has said he wants this guy? We’ve all been here before, this is Levy scrambling around looking for a last minute deal. Poor management from top to bottom. No scouting, no planning just opportune purchases that we’ll be trying to shift in 12 months time. As @rebrab mentioned in another thread, we shouldn’t be buying ‘back ups’. We need players that are ready to challenge for the first team.

A while ago one of the ITKs (I think it was H88) said that our positive start had impressed Levy and he wants to give Ange what he wants. Sadly whilst not doubting the ITK (and Levy might even believe it himself) his nature is to do the bare minimum whilst trying to be too clever with each individual deal. In this regard I think our good start will make him complacent and that’s why we are seeing yet another shit show finish to a window

I'd love to see this "model" we're using in our recruitment.

It's a sheet of paper with "is the player free/cheap or in his last 12 months? If yes, get him in", written on it, isn't it?

We act like the poorest rich club on the planet and expect other clubs to fall for it, which they obviously don’t.

I can already see the narrative tomorrow being on, successfully shifting the deadwood, whilst we’ll ‘get through till Jan’ & revisit incoming opportunities …

If previous is anything to go by any time now we'll linked with someone exciting that has half of SC running around the place masturbating furiously (not that you need an excuse) it'll all be positivity and light. Then the window will slam shut like Fletch's door in Porridge
Wasn't that yesterday?

It’s a poor day when Brentford and Brighton are pipping us to a signature and we are going into the final 24 hours with huge holes in the squad.
I do agree with others that the Kane money was spent in advance but we desperately do need a fwd and Cb.
At this point Tosin and Johnson would be a positive. I hope the pessimism from our ITK picks up through tomorrow and then in future windows the data approach has players targeted and sounded out well in advance.

Absolutely love the joke here mate 😂😂 but even so, pictures in the itk thread is playing with fire @hutchiniho that edit is perfect 🤣

Believe being the operative word. It's all about what we believe not what we know.
I don't know but I don't see the point in criticising something that I have no knowledge about.

Considering we only have what, 16 games before the January transfer window? I wonder if the powers that be just don’t think it’s worth making signings now for the sake of it?

I like the look of Johnson and hope that happens but we’ve hardly been linked with anyone mind blowing. Just have to pray none of our first team get any serious injuries. The worst part is not fully backing Ange in the forward department earlier in the window (if that is actually the case).

I guess the positive thing is that we did some great looking business early on and our starting lineup looks solid so far. I don’t hold out much hope for incomings but we at least have an exciting young team to get behind and just maybe Ange can get a tune out of some of our existing players now that we’re not just letting our opponents run at us for 85 minutes every game.

edit- should have known not to try bringing a somewhat balanced view into the yearly spiral of doom 😂

Maybe when we get to the January window they will think it’s only 16 or so games until the summer

we should just make signings for the sake of it. Always better value in the Summer Daniel

I don't really get one thing. It's clear Dier wants to be a free agent so he can get a big signing bonus next year, so he rejects permanent transfer offers now. Let's say its fair.
It's clear for me then he wants us to terminate his contract as we did with Doherty or Aurier, and Hugo might do same thing.
The problem is,, playing that game sends a message to Ndombele, Sess, Sanchez or whoever it might be in future, that unwanted players can do such thing to the club.

I think having (for example) unregistered Dier for a whole year with no football and paying his wages could be a better business long term, as it would detriment such actions from Ndombele etc.
Why are we falling for that?

Correction - surely just signing literally nobody isn’t the right solution
Given the deadwood we have struggled to shift for so long, I would say signing literally nobody is better than signing more players who wont play for us that we will struggle to offload.

Yeah I don’t agree with it if that’s the case, I was simply wondering if that’s what Levy has been reduced to now that all his haggling has seemingly backfired again and the good players have gone to other teams.

Such a boring final few hours to the window. By now we would usually get a left field story linking us with some out of reach superstar that a few journos report on.
