Thought he wasn't a happy bunny.
What an insane idea I've just had, what about if Spurs fans support Danny Rose. A player who along with 90% of the squad had a piss poor season in what was a tactical shambles. I'm backing Pochettino to improve many players and Rose falls under that category. Yes he's very unlikely to be a world beater but it does mean Vertonghen won't have to play a minute at LB.
Look I have slagged Rose off like we all have. But I think we are forgetting something. Rose was actually very good for us before he got hurt then came back to the managerial situation being a complete shambles. Had he not gotten hurt, our season could have been alot different.

Wouln't say that Rose had a worse season that Vertonghen\Dawson\Walker last year ....we were crap all over the pitch.

If he's on board and part of the plan, then lets get behind him.

Bit unfair considering the grief he was being given for reportedly throwing his toys out of the pram when we signed BD. We can't have it both ways. If he's childish for wanting to leave when BD is signed then credit to him for staying and fighting for a place in the team. He's a young lad with the chance to learn from his mistakes.

I'm not giving him grief for his attitude, more his common sense. This is the guy after all who put his foot in a bucket of ice while still having his sock on.

That's actually a very good comment.
At Sunderland he seemed to play very well, which is why AVB started to play him for us last season. Maybe the issue was indeed more to do with the coaching than Rose's ability.

Given the fact that Rose was originally a LW, could it be possible that Poch would like to try him at what was, after all, his main position? And gives the advantage of doubling up the defensive ethic down that side??

Rose signing is good news. Means we won't be forced to play Vertonghen or Naughton out of position simply due to one injury.

We need two specialist left backs.

LVDB a specialist left back I agree we need two but Danny Rose is not a left back and no where near a specialist.

I'm happy Rose has signed a new deal.

He might look like a grumpy egotistical tw0t sometimes - but when he was out injured last year, 95% of us were desperate for him to come back and play and were crying for updates.

He had showed well early on last season after impressing for Sunderland the season before - and it was only when Dim Tim came in that his performances started to become more erratic. Importantly, he's homegrown and means we don't have to go out and buy a back-up for Davies, otherwise we'd never actually be getting anywhere!!

Re: Rose

Don't have to mess around trying to sell him and buy another LB. Can focus on other areas instead.
Probably still on a lower wage than a likely replacement
Means we have cover at LB for once - no more Naughton at LB
Should stop Vertonghen from playing there and getting pissy about it
Protects our investment and keeps value up if/when we sell him on
Another HG player kept in the squad
No more Naughton at LB

Makes perfect sense to me

Good news on Rose as long as he is willing to fight for his place and not bring negative energy around the team if Davies gets a run of games in. You won't find a lot of better second choice LB's in the league.

I think they will be equal as far as #1 or #2. They will both have to fight for the #1 spot.

Sandro and Schneiderlin aren't the most comparable players, so it doesn't make sense to me for Sandro to be the player who's let go. If anything Capoue is closest. If I had to let a midfielder go it would be Dembele, perhaps the interest/monetary recuperation isn't as tempting as Sandro's. He's also had an injury and has not been up to scratch, but had a decent World Cup. Still think it would be jumping the gun at this stage to make a decision on the midfielder to leave.

It's an interesting thought and one I pondered as well.

Apart from they don't share the same position at all.
exactly. a different position in defence. Like Dembele Paulinho and Sandro all play different positions in Midfield.
This was my point mate.
