Forgot to add if Modric does leave we will go big in for him, don't worry lads like a lot of us ITK'S have said Rafa loves it here at WHL.
If Modric does leave I hope it's sooner rather than later. Gives management time to reinvest the money wisely, and also to allow other sides time to find a replacement once we move to buy someone. It'll also allow for more time to pass if there's ill will.

Is Eriksen an AM or a DM? everyone on here seems to think he's a DM but wiki says he's an AM.

Really? I'd say they are pretty similar having watched Eriksen quite a bit. Eriksen has much more pace and drive going forward and has a much better shot than Modric.

Yeah, because Eriksen is a #10, whilst Modric is a deep-lying ballplayer. It's like comparing Xavi with Messi, or Carrick with Robbie Keane.

if we have any real ambition to do anything we should be signing erikson and keeping modric. not selling peter to pay for paul!!

Still think him beside Sandro/Parker in midfield would work very well mate.

We'd get torn a new one. People really underestimate Modric's importance to our defensive play and ball retention.

To be honest, if it came to it, I'd rather see Rafa as a holding midfielder and Eriksen in the hole just behind Ade.

Eriksen is a Attacking midfielder who plays the "rafa" role for Ajax. However, Modric played the same role for Zagreb and ended up at CM thanks to Bilic for Croatia and then Harry put him there for Spurs and its been the making of him. Eriksen, for me, could quite easily slot into a CM role as CM in the modern game do not need to be great markers or tacklers, more and more we are seeing people like Munian and Hazard being deployed in CM.

ALSO

quote from lambert about Villa speculation:

Questioned on the subject on Tuesday night at Adam Drury's
spacer.gif
testimonial, Lambert said: "You must be winding me up. You are asking me some negative things and this is about Adam Drury.

"I am delighted I am at Norwich if that is what you are asking me. I have never said I wanted away, and people jump to conclusions."
Now this is why Harry lost me as a big supporter of him this year, this is the behaviour befitting a professional, top class, manager.
Harry kept talking about how he's "not sure if england is for him", even when linked to Cheslea he started talking about how great a job it is but "nobody has spoken to me"

I`ll give you ball rentention, but defensive play, not for me, I can think of a number of occassions particularly this season where Modders inability to defend properly has led directly to us conceding...

Bolton's goal being a case in point in the League game there four weeks ago.

But Modric can be good at making those little interceptions, his intelligence allows him to read the game well in a defensive capacity to.

Overall though he doesn't push hard enough to track runs etc and when played in a CM two that will and has cost us at times. Its why he needed to be played in a three, a lot of the time, to get the best out of him, to shackle him of that defensive responsibility with the other two taking those roles on.

I'm convinced that's why Parker's form dipped in the final third of the season as well, the amount of work he had to do when in a CM two with Modric was phenomenal.

We were sniffing around last summer I think. Would be a cracking signing now that it seems he's fully recovered from his knee injury. Lovely lovely player. Real touch of class about him.

Talksport were running a story that Afellay could be available for around 6m, now that would be a real bargain....I like Johnson too, but he would be 12m upwards I would have thought, not barring the fact that if he was available I`m sure he would have a host of suitors...
