I said before if Barkley needed an operation on his hamstring that’s the most serious type of hamstring injury you can get. Once a player has that kind of injury there will always be a doubt over his future fitness. There’s also a reason no England manager has fancied Barkley and most Everton haven’t. Essentially he’s shown nothing but potential at Everton. The £15m is clearly not the issue. It would be having a high earner on a 5 year contract that you can’t guarantee his fitness. Chelsea can afford that gamble we can’t. I think it’s probably as simple as that.

I got 22 winners. I’d like to thank everyone that made this post possible. Most of all sissoko for making people think RB is world class. I thank you.

Just read through trix's ITK (update1) and he nailed the Barkley situation, he also pretty much said we are not going to pull a rabbit out of the hat this month although positive on Sessignon I think, which taken in the round kind of fits with what we are hearing today, that we are effectively concentrating on our summer.
Maybe we took the step back over the last few months and decided we are in a better position than we thought and so can recallibrate our acquisition expenditure levels.

Far be it from me to tell anyone how to share information - but for future reference - when you have information that you are not going to share with the public, please just don't mention it at all...none of this "I know something, but I am not going to tell you" stuff. It just leads to endless speculation, and needless rumor mongering. See, Lamela thread for what happens when people go off on a rumour expedition...

As for Barkley, meh. Time will tell if it was a good decision or not. Its certainly not something we can evaluate right now.

RB knew that we would do deal in summer. He honestly thinks he will get into WC

Same with Sanchez and citeh. He will end up there in summer. All agreed apparently. I was peeved last week when I heard we weren’t doing the RB deal, and he was off to chavs. Being made aware of information, along with his medical concerns, I quieted myself.

To be fair to RB, he seems to be making his decisions for the right reasons (playing rather than money alone).

Would be quite ecstatic if we moved forward with KWP next season as the primary backup to Aurier and also had Sessegnon.

So now that Barkley is off, the only possible signing is Sessegnon right?
We'll get him, but not this window imo. He's too important for Fulham
This is going to be a very quiet window

This was always going to be the case, imo. Financially its not worthwhile, and there are no players who would "guarantee" top-4.

Having said that, every once in a while I get that its important that the club show its ambition. Or as Poch might put it - be brave. A psychological boost could do wonders for both the squad and the supporters.

I know what you mean, but speculation will happen regardless. I appreciate the snippets of info.

Can't wait for summer to roll around, where we miss out on all of our targets & panic-buy Shane Long for £30m... never change Spurs, never change.

Poch is clearly playing Sissoko because we have zero other options. If Poch had a choice between Barkley or Sissoko playing that role last night, he would choose Barkley all day long. Sissoko was beyond atrocious last night. If Poch genuinely thinks Sissoko is worth a place In the side, well then serious questions have to be asked of Poch's blind spot. It's the biggest mystery at Spurs currently. Just what does Poch see in Sissoko?

Unbelievable that Poch and Levy rate ugly brawn over ball playing ability. But I don't think Poch does. We should have signed RB this Jan. He immediately offers more to us than Sissoko and could take his place in the side. We then sell Sissoko in the summer. Our squad and team is instantly improved.

Are you fucking kidding me??
Seriously?!
Unless you are Poch and have taken to talking about yourself in the third person after your latest mental fart outbreak, what grounds do you have to make that statement?

One is a good footballer and the other isn’t?

Am I the only one not convinced by Richarlison?? (if he in fact is the watford player we want)
He's young, but I'm not really convinced he's good enough. Zaha would be a much better choice imo. Or any of the brazilian wingers of the moment (Neres or Malcom)

It's only Jan 5th and people are in meltdown mode! What a time.

Disappointing to see RB go to the Chavs but nothing we can do about that. If he wants to chill in their physio room and on the bench then to me it shows a lack of ambition. He'll end up falling into the same category as Delph, Rodwell, Drinkwater, and Sidwell. Would be better off staying where he is in my opinion. And World Cup my arse - Wilshire will be on the plane ahead of him and that's a fucking long shot.

I'm not. Screams one season wonder to me right now. Seems to have gone off the boil too. Time will tell I guess.
