I'm happy for them both (stambouli & Capoue) to go, but I think both had qualities and in the right system will do well. They'll probably suit a lower mid table side and like most players need a run in a side to show their true capabilities. I wish them both luck if they go.

With Paulinho and Holtby gone and ITK indicating Stam and Capoue would follow, that must mean 2 CMs in, surely? If we could shift those 4 and bring in Mario Suarez and Rabiot/McCarthy that would be fantastic business

There's been something of a misunderstanding. They've actually gone to the Watford gap services. Capoue is working at the burgerking and stambouli the shell garage.

It's quite amazing that Alli is going straight into the squad ok will be a vit part player but it's a big step up from league 1 we must be expecting him to be great!

Same step Mason made last season, and Alli was even better than Mason in League 1. With the number of young CMs we have I don't think we would have even bought him if we weren't convinced he'd be really special.

Got to assume if alli is stepping straight in then the one other must be an experienced head to be a leader for all the youngsters. May be exactly where the Suarez stuff originates.
Really looking forward though to the kids getting serious minutes next season. Good times as they always play without fear.

I think the "1 other" needs to be a top class experienced player as we are going to be left with a very young midfield with the departures of Paulinho and Holtby, almost definitely Capoue and possibly Stambouli.

Bentaleb, Mason, Dembele, Alli, Carroll, Veljkovic, Winks. Until we decide to start selling/loaning those players, we haven't really made room for a CM yet IMO.

We haven't made room for another midfielder yet? If we have any aspirations for the top 4 next year then I'm sorry but going into a new season with the midfielders you have listed above would be a joke. Alli, Veljkovic and Winks have next to zero experience. As promising as they may be. Aside from Dembele they are all very young. We would be foolish not to bring someone with experience in to help guide these youngsters to hopefully fulfil the promise they are showing.

I mean in recent times.

The club has been around since 1882, recent times so that would include modric and Carrick. As your said " With the destruction of CM careers in spurs" you didn't say in the last few years.

Good news imo
