Couldn't one of the players mentioned be Anthony Annan, the very good young Ghanian DM. Didn't someone mention him the other day ?

I like the kid and picked him out at the WC, but again I'd be a touch disappointed if we were buying another DM (Palacios, Sandro, Hudd) when what we need is a more attacking intelligent CM.

My gaffer is gonna ring Harry tonight and get to the bottom of why he wasnt on the bench last night. He is also gonna grill him for when we are likely to make a real splash in the market. Watch this space....

You are comparing one player who was playing for his hometown club, in the league he has always played in, a country he speaks the language in, with another who was on loan in an unfamiliar country, and whose confidence was at a low ebb after injuries.

There is so much more to understanding footballers than what you see on the pitch, the mental side of the game is about 90% of what makes them successful or not.

Doesn't your statement (putting aside the validity of it and the use of 90%) just agree with what DA said?

On one hand, you have a player who has struggled to establish himself at three clubs, and by Redknapps and his fathers admission, hasn't had his head screwed on right (too much going out, drinking, late to training etc).

On the other hand, you have a player who has established himself as the young captain of a very good footballing club.

I would say in a comparison between Turan and Gio, as far as we know (given the limited evidence), Turan has the better mental approach. Even allowing for the 'difficulties' of adapting to new countries, cultures etc.

Didn't think this deserved its own thread, but Parker is looking likely as I said a few weeks ago.

He doesn't want to hand in a transfer request (doesn't want to ruin his stature with the West Ham fans from the sounds of it) , but he does want to come here  and player power rules now.

Not sure why he's bothered about his stature with the West Ham fans if hes looking at coming to us. He's hardly going to stay an Upton Park hero regardless of the circumstances.

I wonder if Gold and Sullivan want to force him to hand in such a request, so they come out looking like Diamond Geezers to the club's supporters?

Oh and I asked my source (hate that word) about the two black players, he said he hadn't heard anything about that. He doesn't hear/tell me everything though so that doesn't mean it won't happen.

cheers rebrab sounds very plausible alright! parker would be a good addition but still holding out for that one striker who other teams will fear, likes of forlan, fabiano possibly dzeko.

From the Tim Sherwood article in Spurs Chat:

Sherwood feels that qualification for the group stages of the Champions League represents the next realistic step forward for Redknapp's side, and he is urging Tottenham to focus their attention on the upcoming qualifiers, rather than being distracted by talk of the Premier League crown.

"It's a gradual building process and we took a massive step last year," he said. "If we can win this qualifier in the Champions League it's a massive bonus because it brings revenue into the club and hopefully allows us to add to the already great squad that we've got."

Says it all really.

No MAJOR signing till the last week of the window....hopefully.

Irons in the fire until then me thinks.....

August 31st, no doubt.

Are we singing from the same hymn sheet?

Is it national 'ITK' day?

Would appear so

You're source sounds like a damn racist

The thing for Parker must be do I want to be the only one holding together a team in at best a race for 12th or do I want a last chance at proving myself ina team that could be playing in the CL Group Stages. Also boosts his chances of playing for England as everyone knows that Fabio enjoys spending time at the Lane to see all our English players.

He may say that, but i'm sure it's to do with the money. He'll have to take a pay cut to join us, so he'll want the signing on fee to make up for it.

Its not a question of who has the "better mental approach", sometimes its just a question of circumstance.

Turan has done well in an environment he feels comfortable with, but what I am saying is how he would do with us in the PL is difficult to predict.

Also, whether Gio comes back into the fold and makes an impact here this season is also difficult to predict, depends whether he is determined to do it, is happy and contented in London, and has luck with injuries, both to himself and possibly to others that gives him a run in the team.
