Would highly doubt ASM is going to come to sit on our bench a lot.

He's great on his day but inconsistent.

Maybe Conte improves him ad the natural talent is there but I'd very surprised if this move materialised.

ASM would make a lot of sense to me, firstly he'd be a rotational choice so already that takes the pressure off of it compared to signing Bastoni for example. Secondly he reminds me a lot of Hazard in his low centre of gravity and the way players bounce off of him and the way Hazard used his ass to great effect, I see a similar trait in ASM and when you think about how Conte got the best out of Hazard, that makes me excited. I think that ASM is a player who right now relies on individual brilliance and that his output doesn't reflect his ability, well I think that Conte having a structured approach would see ASM go up several levels. Also I think Mane is a good comparison in terms of the fact he was pretty decent at Southampton but nobody really thought he was worth the money United or Liverpool were willing to pay, I remember a lot of jokes toward United about being keen on him and then he joined Liverpool and the rest is history, so whilst it doesn't guarantee anything, I'd be hoping for a similar effect.

Signing ASM who can play either side and selling Bergwijn and adding Scamacca would probably be better than signing Nunez and give us more options but we'll see. Nunez looks an absolutely fantastic player though so you're gambling on Scamacca ending up the better choice and having ASM being the cover on the wings rather than signing Nunez who potentially can cover all 3 positions.

Not that he's not a bad player. In fact I think he a very good player just very inconsistent. His off the ball work isn't very Conte either.

He was pivotal in Newcastle’s revival. He’s a very underrated player and a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

Currently we have Bergwijn and Moura, neither are particularly difficult to defend against. Moura can create space but more often than not he forgets to take the ball with him or runs into a dead end.

A player in the mould of ASM and Traore are a nightmare to play against. You can’t double up on Kane, Son, Kulusevski and/or ASM/Traore… at the same time. ASM and a like are great at creating space and buckling a tight defence, allowing Kane and co to find space and reek havoc.

I’d be happy with ASM for Bergwijn.

This squad for many, many years has been screaming out for a dribbler (especially in wide areas), ASM fits that remit.

He’s not a “dribbler” though. At best with plenty of green grass in front of him he’s a “runner” (with the ball).

Competitively speaking, Hazard was a dribbler. Walcott ran with the ball.

If you want someone with close ball control, good feet, comfortable in tight areas, good at evading tackles…ASM is none of the aforementioned.

Would love to know how they quantify a “dribbler”.

Adama Traore also on that list. He has a touch and the control of a bouncy castle.

From my brief viewings of ASM, I stand by my initial observation.

Fair enough.

Don't really want to go further off-topic from the ITK (I really value my access A&C :D) - but he definitely would add something different to what we have now.

So AG says Dybala is on our wish list? I can't keep up these days. Praying it happens tho.
