Wonder if he'll go on to fullfil that talent or whether he'll just waste it all?

Despite his sometimes outspoken attitude in the press, I wish him all the best at QPR.

£1m in installments over 3 years is not going to make a difference to our summer dealings anyway! But it's one out the door, more to follow before the opening day of the season I wonder?

Wikipedia now reads:

Taarabt went on to state his intention to sign for one of the top clubs in Spain "I hope to be playing for one of the top four in Spain next season — Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Sevilla. I have contact with good teams and I know that they want me. Now I just have to hope they can agree a deal with Tottenham."[16]

Taraabt signed for Queens Park Rangers F.C. on August 4th 2010 on a 4 year contract for a fee of £600k rising to £1m depending on the club's achievement during the 2010-11 Championship season, with £200k being paid to Spurs if the club finishes in 6th place or higher, and £200k due if the club achieves promotion to the Premier League.

*Groan* at the old cliche of players that missed a lot of games being like new signings. In the same way, Liverpool have got a new £40m striker, and Arsenal a £30m striker and £40m midfielder.

Even though everyone (including myself) is crying out for a new striker, it's actually the defence that has been the big problem in pre-season. The return of King and Bassong (who only played 1 half of pre-season so far) should help steady the ship. We should be okay.

Who knows. Maybe Pav will hit the ground running this season (he seems more settled nowadays), Giovani could come good, and Keane may still offer something aswell. Plenty of attacking options.

Also if we can keep a few of our up and coming youngsters around the fringes of the first team as well as most of our returning loanees back we should be in good shape. We need the players to believe they can step up if they are given a chance just like Bale and to an extent Bentley did last season. This should keep the competition for places healthy especially with all the extra games we will have this season.

Agree with tsh. Bale, Modric and Lennon in full flow is to me more exciting than any player we can sign, even allowing for some unrealistic targets.

Maybe that isn't exciting because it doesn't require a stoof stamp.

On the QPR website he's quoted as saying:

'This is the first time in my life that I've had ambition. Before, I'd play football just to enjoy it, but now I've come to an age where I have to step up.'

Interesting... not sure it's showing a sign of ambition or stepping up by leaving Spurs and joining QPR (his talk of joining Barca etc. last season was more 'ambitious', if deluded) and there were probably offers on the table from lesser Premiership clubs (albeit with far lower wages I'd imagine).

However, Warnock is probably right when he says that he needs to just start playing football at this stage, and he strikes me as the type who probably enjoys being the big fish in the small pool. Now hopefully Harry can focus on fully backing our other very talented but frustrating show pony (if Gio continues this sort of form anyway).

Taraabt may get his roundabout wish to sign for a major club if one of his peers is anyone to compare notes with. KPB is being considered my the major Italian clubs as Porstmouth are about to implode. That would be a great move for the Ghanian and a transfer from which Taraabt can take hope if he performs to his undoubted potential.

Yeah, that's the guy who isn't a midfielder, either.

Mabye Harry was having a look at Marcos Senna the other day? Fit's in with his comment about needing some 'men' with experience. He's 34 now though so doesn't fit in with Levy's policy of buying with a view to resale value.

There's also a young midfielder on their opponent's books (at that match) that has played for B'mouth and Pompey. He wasn't in their squad yesterday, but I'm not sure how far ahead our scout would have know that....
