I’m not sure. Wasn’t Kovacic’s deal a purchase with a loan back, though, rather than a loan with an option to buy?

I imagine (I’m no expert, of course) that the negotiations for a permanent transfer would be done if we activate the option to buy, or at least if we intend to activate the option to buy.

Ultimately, if the club feel it’s a viable path, who am I to say them nay? I’m just mulling over possible pitfalls.

Pulisic was a purchase loan back. Kovacic was a loan with option to buy.

Anyway going off topic.

Ah, yes, you’re right! I got those two mixed up.

I suppose where he thinks he is in the RM pecking order will be a major consideration.

An option to buy still carries some risk though, doesn’t it? In that the player may refuse a deal at the end of the loan and return to RM? And we would have ended up fattening the cow for nothing?
Loan with an option to buy or be kept hostage

Loan with no option would make absolutely no sense for Ceballos. It might however work quite well for Bale. Part of me wonders if there is a possibility that may have been mooted at some point and Chinese whispers have resulted in crossed wires .

That’s precisely the question to my mind: how limited (or otherwise) is his playing time at Real? Is he primarily a bench-warmer or is he being used enough that he thinks he could be a regular for them?

It's definitely never going to be a loan with no option to buy or a loan with a pre-agreed buy back option for RM.

Morata was signed by Juve for 20M and 2 years later RM exercised buy back option for 30M. A season later they sold him to Chelsea for 60M. Thats what DL will be aiming to avoid.

The deal will be loan with option to buy and no pre-arranged buy back. I don't think ITK are suggesting anything else.

Loan with option to buy makes sense for numerous reasons. We get to see the player up close for a start, he gets to see what we’re building. It also won’t affect our spending this year, and it won’t give his out of favour agents a pay day.

I think that Lo Celso is done. However Ceballos has become available and we going to take him on loan with view to pay the required fee next year.

Lo Celso’s still at the Copa America though.

It could be done pending a medical I suppose which ties in with Herc’s ITK ?

Fail to get excited about loan only deals, especially considering our position in world football. Loan and option or no deal for me
According to Herc, if I read it correctly, this is Levy's stance as well

The last loan without an agreement was Pau Lopez, and at the end of the loan we couldn't agree on a price and he went back. Rumor is that he's now being sold for a significant amount to Roma. So our year of training him resulted in a windfall for his parent club.

Loans without options for youth players are stupid for a club of our stature. The only time a loan would ever make sense would be to fill a hole immediately with an older player.

I’d say a full season as one of the better goalkeepers in La Liga had more to do with it

I agree but I disagree with the example of Pau Lopez. He came in as a 3rd choice keeper and his involvement with the team in an almost trial like run at the club didn't damage the progression of anyone in the process.

Loans can be a bad thing but they can also be a good thing if the angle is right for it. Ceballos I wouldn't say is a good loan unless there is an obligation or guaranteed to buy, Pau Lopez just offered good backup to our backup and for our management to runntheir eye over him more efficiently.

I'm pretty sure that if there is an option to buy then the player has to sign off on it as well, sort of as if it was an actual transfer.

Option to buy normally means player agrees contract and then if we want to activate it we do. So if we agree now a 4 year deal on X. If we activate that in a year that's what it would be. Otherwise an option to buy would never work. As real would say to him yeah agree and then reject the contract they offer

did any1 fully crack the cryptic? hopefully we find out what it was soon enough
I was going to ask the same question. I’m hoping it’s referring to the Sess twins, but I feel like that would only be too obvious.

A few bits mostly regarding outs.

CE. Wants out, is desperate for Madrid. They are keen however only see him as a squad player not as a galactico first team starter. This is causing pricing issues, as we have a price Madrid don't want to pay it, eriksen is in turn getting pissy!

Toby verrrry likely to still go, no idea who to,(plenty of rumours) as the clause in his contract means no one has had to negotiate with us.

Trips. Probably going.

There are others that could still go out, but as things stand these three are closest/most likely to go.

Still pushing hard for Lo C, he's definitley top of the hitlist atm. We want it done early this week. Have been told this next few days are big as far as knowing where we stand on certain deals are concerned.

I'm bored with Eriksen now. He thinks he's a superstar, Zidane clearly doesn't, he needs to wind his neck in and get back to work with his actual team.

As expected thanks Trix. Assumed GLC would start moving quickly at the conclusion of Copa America.
