That’s a whole other discussion, and certainly one worth having, but I wouldn’t bring it into the ITK thread or A&C will probably have kittens and we would probably loose our privileges.about the 3rd choice CD- isn't Foyth ready or nearing first team duties yet?
Why are they priority? Some signings are quicker to be completed than others as ITK have stated regarding world cup players are waiting and any other positions we want to fill maybe reliant on that. So just because we sign other positions first doesn't mean others aren't a priorityI feel a little concerned that our two priority signings are a, most likely, third choice CD and wide forward. Granted, we need a replacement for Llorente and Martial would be a good one, and obviously De Ligt would be a good, all be it very expensive, young third choice cd. But really I still feel our number one priority with a bullit should be a CM.

So this is what Toby meant with his words today, he wants to stay & it's us who are actively selling him (!!!)
Because in my opinion I don’t think he is as good as current CBs and will take some time before he gets to their level. One has to remember Sanchez had to step up fast due to Toby’s injury, if Toby doesn’t get injured then Sanchez might have taken the whole season to get up to speed, if not longer. If De Ligt comes in He probably won’t get the same game time Sanchez did, and we still have Foyth in the mix. Personally I don’t see how De Ligt is on the same level as Sanchez, yes he has huge potential, but he has done nothing to be considered better or on par with Dav. Obviously the three at the back idea makes sense, but we have no idea if Poch sees that as our future.I am not entirely sure you can say De Ligt would be 3rd choice! We have 2 exceptional defenders but he would push dav for a place or poch will want to play 3 at back
Unpredictability is just a nice way of saying inconsistent and unreliable. You know who our most predictable players are? Eriksen and Kane.

That's THREE posts I've had to delete asking ITK questions.
It's obvious a number of you still haven't read the rules. Fine. Don't bother. I'll be back in a couple of hours to ban the next few simpletons.
Nighty night.
Definitely some back peddling going on with Toby, not sure it will make any difference but we will have to see.
We have plenty who can do that already. There's been plenty of games this season where we've changed formation in games. Give me a excellent player who can only play in one or two positions over a "meh" player, as Hercules put it, who can play in multiple. We don't need to sign average players to make our play more unpredictable, which is overrated in the first place.I feel like you are talking about unpredictability as a type of individual player trait, whereas the point in hand seems to be the overall teams unpredictability for the opposition, by making sure we have personnel with differing qualities.
This can only be a good thing

Oh I agree and I’m certainly not against De Ligt, I just don’t think he would be our second choice CB, not for a long while. He would be my choice for a replacement for Toby and I would be very happy to get him, although I must say the rumoured price is crazy. The thought that we might spend, most likely, an odd 100 mil on a CD and a WF when we really desperately need at least one, if not two, seriously good CMs does worry me, but I understand, De Ligt and Martial are deals that don’t come around very often. I just hope we don’t priorities them above a high caliber central mid and end up having to cut corners.I think you are right about Sanchez, a factor in Toby not coming back could well be because Poch is well in on the Sanchez train. He adds power, heading ability and exceptional recovery pace, which are extremely valuable. He's still a bit raw but getting there fast. Some could say a better defender reads the danger and doesn't need that pace but that's not always possible in a high line.
I think we'll use 3 at the back at times but not every single week. Doesn't mesh well with the current targets if we are planning on going back 3 all of the time.
We do need a 3rd top class CB regardless though, which De Ligt would be if/when Toby goes. Last season proved having top drawer back up stops a bad injury derailing a season.
