do you really think if we had pretty much agreed a fee of £20m then they would want to play him and risk losing that money if he got injured? Would we want to risk missing out on our main target (assuming he is)?

Whitelight summed it up perfectly "even if we are in the running" - thats all it is, we are clearly nowhere near a deal.

it doesn't mean it can't be close. it just means it isn't done, which if we are being reasonable, is quite obvious already.

We wouldn't really risk the money as he would have to pass a medical, knowing levy he would use it to bring the price down anyway

Anyway we would tell our players to take it easy on him if he was close to signing

If Spurs are close to sealing a deal for a fee in excess of £20m whilst allowing Llorente to play for his current club, then they are unbelievably stupid.

Don't really see the problem. Surely it's down to our players to make sure he doesn't get injured?

basically yes. why would you expect us to have agreed a fee already? there has been very little talk about it. none in the media, merely "we're interested" from itk.

you may want to double check the read only itk section pal.
BEN has said "llorente very close. should be done"

My point is, this doesnt look like its the case.

thats why i say we could be off something like a couple mil. i would consider that close. in their shoes i still go on about my business as usual. especially considering our record of not sealing deals. not saying the itk is definitely right, but it hasn't really been discredited.

Redknapp said something like: "We've done nuffink, we've been very quiet this summer. The chairman is trying to bring 1 or 2 in but we've been unlucky so far"

He looked a bit squirmy....but beyond that, there's not much ro read into what he said.

You really think Levy/Harry would tell our players to "go easy" on him? my god, we are desperate for a signing aint we! I look forward to watching him get numerous free headers and having loads of space today in that case.........:duh:

Why wouldn't they? If Harry & Levy are close to a deal it makes sense to tell the players to avoid anything over the top. It's only a friendly after all, and you can still mark someone without sending them flying.

good old assumptions hey! or the likelyhood is that we aint as close as the the ITK would suggest. I know which is most likely, but up to you what you choose to believe!

I hope the ITK concerning diarra comes true, diarra i think, will let us push our midfield up more, whereas atm we sit far too deep leaving a huge gap between midfield and the striker because we have not sitting DM to cover

Agree - that is where VDV would thrive if Diarra was in the team. I know Palacios could do that - but Diarra can pull a pass off as well !!! :hump:

Get well soon Sandro. The thought of Sandro out for a couple of months and no Modric doesnt bode well for us with the start weve got.
