Not a chance in hell we would go anywhere near 9m for ings.
What's the likely fee for him in the summer after tribunal?

But we need someone now summer is No good we may well miss out on success this season if we do Fuck all about it just because of money again.

He's cup tied for the League Cup though, which is our big chance of success.

Soton makes sense. He could make a rep there and be as successful as Lambert maybe.

He used to play for Soton - well he was in their academy and they released him. So going there would in some senses be going backwards.

We've got 3 RWFs. We could let one of those go (say Lennon, as rumoured) and then use Ings primarily as a LWF (where we only have one - Chadli) this season

But our big problem is a lack of back up to Kane, as he cannot possibly play in all the matches we have. So if Ings comes he will be as back up striker primarily although he may be able to play a few games as LW

Thats a shame but Levy wont pay that anyway so its a non starter.

Having 3 strikers is irrelevant if 2 of them can't be relied on... even more so when one of them would be more at home in a padded room than on a football pitch at the moment. An injury to Kane and we're in the sh*t. Ings for £9m is a no brainer.
It is relevant if you live in the real world and you have to pay all of them whether they score or not. We could probably loan Soldado easily, so it is still a possibility. If you are thinking we hit Feb 1 with four strikers in the squad you are crazy.

He's a Southampton fan, and they are very much in amongst the mix.
Yeah, was released form their vaunted academy at a young age and went to Bournemouth. That move would make a lot of sense for everyone involved honestly.

Look at it from the sellers point of view; its better to keep him to help stay in the league and get 5M in a tribunal than get less than 9M now.
Would he really add to our team though? Who would he replace in the current 11? To pay 9M as a back up to Kane? Would rather get someone who would get in the current 11 now. Honesty not sure how good he really is. Playing for Burnley and playing for Spurs is not the same, can he make the step up?

Crazy, yh ok.

Loads of teams have 4 strikers and we used to have 4 too. Come the summer Ade will be off and likely Bobby too, meaning we'll need another striker. Finding 1 decent, affordable striker is hard enough, never mind needing 2.

It also depends on what players they may be potentially looking at in regards to transfers. If they have an idea for a target to replace Ings (or to improve other areas of their squad) as well as feeling confident about their striker situation with Vokes (scored 21 last season in the Championship), they may view it as a way to bring in some cash that can be used to add a player they want for more than just the rest of the season without seeing a huge dip in quality at striker.

Ings is an excellent prospect, he's shown he can score goals in the prem and for the under 21s, add to the fact he's also English and available for £9m, which in today's prices is a snip.

What if Kane gets injured ? Would be good for Kane to not play every match either as he could be burned out later in the season

Agree but is he good enough to stand in for Kane? I haven't seen a lot of him so honestly don't know. Can he hold up the ball? Link up play as well as drive forward with the Ball like Kane is constantly doing at the moment?

What if Ings signs an extension in February what about £9million then? Or what about £15million then? We don't know if he'll be out of contract in the summer at all, take the bird in the hand because the bush may be empty by July and it's not like he's a complete dud is it.
Honestly, a 22 year old English striker with the knack of scoring goals in the premier league for £9million ought not need discussing, if the deal's there to be done just do it.

Edit: Just found this on his Wicki page:-
Off the field, Ings has gained a reputation for charitable acts.[5] In November 2014, he launched and funded the Danny Ings Disability Sport Project to provide football coaching to children with disabilities and learning difficulties after being inspired to do so by a young disabled Burnley fan.[6]
Is this the kind of man we want at our club? Personally, yes!

He doesn't holdup the ball as well, but he's much quicker to dart away from physical challenges. He's a different kind of option, a more aggressive option, and consequently one I think would be brilliant for what we need. We are stunningly poor at attacking space when we get it (glaring example of this was yesterday), and this is something I've never once seen Ings refrain from. He seems very inclined to run right at defenses and link up with other players.

Thats a ridiculous amount to pay for a player who is out of contract in 6 months. That's pretty much like saying he will be worth £30m. He looks a decent prospect but not £30m decent.

Well, at least of he did sign we'd have a matching pair..................
