Split hairs everyone!

It's easy to split our signings into Levy ones & manager ones. Going forward it will be interesting how many more have the cruel talons of Big Chief Dan etched into them.
That's all!

No it is not splitting hairs, and it is not easy to split signings into "Levy ones and manager ones". What you are insinuating is that Levy has been unwilling to gamble on foreign signings unless the manager has pressured him into it, when that is simply not true. Levy has signed players from within the PL and outside it, he has taken chances and refused to other times. No transfer we make as a club has "big chief Dan" etched into them as they are all the result of a committee that includes the manager, amongst others. In the last few years we have looked for a mixture to instant impact players and longer term projects, this will no doubt continue. If Baldini joins he will be tasked with identifying players and scouting youngsters and concluding the football side on any transfers.

I hear Harry Kewell's available.

If five of us can chip in 20 quid then I reckon he's ours. Then we can put this Leandro shit to bed once and for all.

I did tell you harry werent off to Everton.

BRIGHTON ;)

Yep, but it was a bit late by the time you told me before......

Good money after bad as the saying goes I suppose. Oh well here we go (again).

*Edit - weird how the rumpus at QPR is about him signing Bridge, when he was already down at brighton on loan.

To haul this back on track, I agree with GBspurs - the club know what we want and are I'm confident will go about it in the right manner this time in order to sort it. Mind you I'd rather this were done for the beginning of August and not September 1st tbh.

I said the other day that we would first get Baldini in and then sort out the other transfers, even if it is just revealing them... there was no way Levy wasn't going to parade a DoF after doing all the signings himself, not publicly at least.

It appears it most ITKs that said Baldini would be done soon have also said that Leandro looks likely, so I guess we will just have to hope Baldini gets announced soon and it is swiftly followed with some Leandro news.

If Baldini comes in I imagine his first instructions from Levy will be "get Leandro's agent to a hotel, chain the fucker to the radiator and lock all the doors and windows. Ok, Franco?"

"okey dokey Mr Levy"

I'm not insinuating that at all, you've wrongly inferred it.

I think every one of our transfers since last summer were 'Levy' signings, or committee signings if you like, I don't think we've made a Villas Boas signing yet, despite everyone thinking Holtby was, I suspect it was driven from elsewhere within the 'Committee'.
Sigurdsson, Dembele, Dempsey and Ade were all stats based signings that fit the bill, Lloris and Vertonghen both class based signings.
Recent manager signings are thin on the ground, Parker for example. Which way we move forward is interesting; does the committee disband, how much autonomy or trust does Baldini get, has Andre's influence risen in the new format (presumably cos he's been driving for it)?

One thing is certain; the future is now different and all the more intuguing for it.

same as last year. Change the sponsor first, announce the manager, then announce the signings. That way they can have the signings paraded with the shirts launched and a manager to greet them.

Off to the funnt pictures thread i go for my coffee break!

I am meeting up with some of my old colleagues tonight (we work in buildings next to eachother, i've not exactly gone far). I'll ask if there is anything in the pipeline/being worked on that finance know about. Doubt it to be honest.

A&C and the rest of the mods are holding back all ITK until Baldini signs... they want his reign to start off with positive info too!
That or they equally want the Bale departure to be on his hands on not on Levy's

Interesting stat about the amount of ITK we have had this window in comparison to last year.
