Dunno if it has been mentioned but it looks like Villa have sorted themselves with HMRC.
HMRC "shelving their plans for legal proceedings against Villa".

We aren’t about to sign jack grealish nor have we enquiried. And there will be no contract announcement s this week.

Back to lurking.

not sure if you know the rules, but once you get banned, you don't get the chance to lurk in this forum

I actually think Grealish would be a great signing IF we also get Martial.

Son, Moura, Eriksen, Lamela, Martial, Alli, Grealish. Great bunch of options.

Why are some going ape shit if we sign say Grealish? Pulisic, who we have been all over since time and memorial at 60m. Is he say 40m better than the likes of Grealish?

Will we spend 20-30m on Rondon? No!
May as well spend 60m on Martial. If that don’t work, spend 20m from Europe on a 22 year old?

Will we pay Norwich 30m for Maddison against Grealish?

Being smart, and allowing money for one big splash (Martial?), and a different kind of defensive midfield for 30m, give or take?

Lamela argument. Like it or not, he is expendable. Do I believe he will be here next season? Yes! But can’t say 100%. Will he be offered s new contract? Dury is out. My opinion; maybe turn of the year, if he delivers. More than chasing down.

That is how you have to think. Because that is how the club and manager are thinking.

Going back to this if I may...

If that don’t work, spend 20m from Europe on a 22 year old?

Does this refer to Grealish ( as the post is littered with Grealish references throughout ), or does it refer to an as yet unnamed ST/wing forward from Europe, should Martial not pan out ? Open question to the forum by the way, NOT to Herc.

Also unnamed up to this point. These are the parts of the info that intrigue me.

Sorted by agreeing to pay a shedload of money by a very tight deadline in the closed season when they have no revenue coming in...
Fire sale anyone?
Levy must be rubbing his hands in glee if Grealish was a target BEFORE Villa discovered their accountant hadn’t been paying the taxman!

ITK bashing is also against the rules and nobody knows whether the poster in question or his info has been verified by A&C and/or Rob or not. Im just saying i wouldnt be so quick to have a go at the poster in question. It is pointless to talk about it and be quoting it until we know anything.

I read that they made a payment of £500,000 earlier today plus a total of £1.2M by the end of this week.

If you end up with De Ligt, Grealish, Martial and a quality CM, then that is a good window.

We already have one of the best attacking midfielders in the world in Eriksen. We need a youngster to play back up and learn from him. Personally, I would like Morrison but only because I have seen a lot more of him than Grealish. I have no doubt Poch and the scouts would have seen a lot of both so I will back them if they go for Grealish. From the clips I have seen of him, he is a huge talent who needs nurturing. I wonder who the best manager in the world is at that? Poch...

We dont need a lot. We just need to flesh out the squad. We arent in the market for world class players. We cant afford them. We need youngster who have the potential to be.

That being said, I would love an experienced centre midfielder to help us manage games.

I heard at 7.15 this evening on the radio that the club had secured extra funding from the States. Maybe Bahamas? But I don’t think so.

If Martial is agreed to by the WC then i think fans can be happy overall with the start of the window. However, if he is not a Spur by then, fans have every right to worry IMO due to past windows. A Martial deal that drags and drags and drags is one that likely doesn't happen and then what is option #2?

Bailey would be a fine option 2

What's funny is that we are going to be trying for Martial all window, he's not going to come as United wont sell to a rival and we'll be stuck with Rondon or nobody anyway. But Its baffling to me that we're still after him and the only other option to Martial(a winger) is seemingly an out and out striker. Ridiculous recruitment strategy yet again. After Martial and Pulisic, sign Grealish and Rondon. Its shit like this that you can point to when we ask why we're void of quality in our depth every year.

Also, the fact that its either Grealish or Pulisic is an embarrasement. One is much better and younger with elite potential on and off the pitch. The other is older, not as good, doesnt have as much potential and wouldnt even be worth £20m if he was coming from a foreign league. So we're paying the english league bonus anyway but getting a discount off it because Villa are tumbling ever closer towards administration(in which case, we'd likely get Grealish cheaper hysterically enough).
Agree it's as if when we miss out on Plan A we skip to Plan D initially! Vast gulf in quality between these signings, surely our scouting system can identify someone better for the same price in Europe?

The 22 year old from Europe isn't Grealish....or that's how I read it anyway. Herc's mentioned them a few times though.

Have many of those who are saying Grealish is shit watched much of him for Villa this season? I've caught Villa a few times on the TV and Grealish has been their standout player which surprised me as I thought he was shit too...

On the Villa cash flow situation, I heard on the radio that it wasn't the fact they don't have the cash it was more to do with their owner having issues getting his money out of China, that could be bollocks though...

Not having cash - and not having access to cash are pretty much the same thing.

The reason why that is important - Villa are losing money every month, and have already tapped out all their lending resources. It goes beyond the tax bill which is the most pressing concern - they will have to sell this summer to raise money.

Fuck, man. If you're losing your shit this early in the window you'll be a basket case by the end of it.

Here's a positive slant to cheer you up.
1. Poch says that we have to be brave and drops vague hints that he might not be here for much longer
2. Poch signs a new five-year deal (seeming to indicate that we're going to be brave) in spite of interest from Madrid
3. All the ITK says that DL understands the value of Poch and is going to back him and his judgement with funds
4. ITK says that not only are we thinking of offering mega-contracts to star players, but that three have already signed them - thereby departing from our usual pay structure.

It might also be helpful to remember that the only players that a club has any degree of control over are the ones who already play for it. So Manu hold the cards with Martial, Ajax with De Ligt etc. Not to mention agents / interest from other clubs etc. So if we don't necessarily get the players that we want - or that you think we should get - it may not be for want of trying.

If this doesn't help, I suggest Valium or weed. Or significant amounts of alcohol.

You're welcome.

Mahmoud Dahoud is a 22 year old German/Syrian central midfielder playing for Dortmund. Prodigiously talented all rounder, who suffered for form this season just gone. Two years ago, Pochettino was apparently targeting him for us for a reported fee of around 35m Euros. This seems to tally up with quite a few of the snippets we've had in cryptics and Herc comments. The longstanding interest is something to note.
