For those bemoaning the fact that the business is late again, Levy already said that he expected most of the business to be done late in the window. The latest ITK from the goat only serves to reinforce this. So I really don't get why people are incredulous at the prospect. It's nothing new, and we aren't exactly the only club who do it.

I know it is frustrating, but I'd rather do it this way than grossly overpay every window as they do at Liverprole.

.

Totally, at the end of the day, All clubs are searching for the best deal for them as well. The only options we can do is over pay, but we're also a business, and that means being sensible with your money.

It seems with the CDM, and SB , all parties are holding out for the best deal for them. We been extremely good at this in the past so i can't see why other clubs should just bowl over for our own needs. Infuriating? Yeah sure, but it's money.

Looking at the Goat's latest bleat suggests that the targets we're trying to sign are of the right caliber if they're potentially waiting to see if a CL club comes in for them. Can't blame players for taking this stance if they are of that standard. The downside of course is that it tends to delay potential deals.

I realise many struggle with the concept but patience is still the order of the day, at least on the CM front.

Hopefully we can tie up N'Jie and Berahino in the next week or two.
Definitely agree with the need for patience. Worry some of us will blow a gasket or summit. C'mon, chill everyone. Cogs are whirring behind the scenes = let's wait for the outcome.
PS Thanks for all the ITK. It's really good to get some insider ideas.

I do hope we as a club are not just hanging out to be a player's second choice. We need players who appreciate playing for us and actively choose into our long term plans like Lloris did. We need to enquire, make our offer, agree terms and set a short term period of time for the player to agree or back out. I don't like this idea of players waiting for top clubs to come in before making their decision. If they've had no contact already, they need to show a bit more respect than that to us and we need to show we're big enough not to chase and chase after players who don't really want to come to the Lane. I think we did set a deadline with Berahinho, hope so and hope we do with the cdm we're after.

Of course one of N'Jie or Berahino, Werner (unlikely) would start for us. We lack pace and the ability to run in behind teams, N'Jie and/or Berahino would provide this. We're not going to spend circa £15 on N'Jie and £20m on Berahino and park them on the bench.

Agree. We certainly havent done anything like that over the last couple of years

It would go a long way to giving some of us our faith back that's for sure.
With so much positivity since end season with players already in, the deadwood shifted (with more still to go) and stadium news - why may I ask have you no faith?
Support the guys no matter what, if ITK is right even more reason to believe.

For all those complaining how long deals take go and listen to @Flav and Co on the most recent Fighting Cock podcast for some common sense thoughts on why some deals take time.

You might come back a little more clear headed and keep this thread on little more of an even keel.

Plus they had two bits of ITK!!

Yep, that's right, Levy did put that in one of the club bulletins. So time to relax, enjoy the win at OT and wait for the countdown.

I'm caught in two minds about this. On the one hand part of me thinks we shouldn't wait for someone for whom we're clearly not the preferred option. On the other hand, if this enables us to bring in someone of true quality then maybe it's worth it. It all depends on who the player is really! The fear is that we end up with no one.

I know we've been prone to signing box-to-box midfielders in the past, but I'm glad to hear we're looking to sign a proper anchor man. That may not fit into our style of play, but every team needs one and it's easier to teach a physical player to become a good footballer than it is to teach a good footballer how to be more physical. Hopefully it happens.

its simple negotiating, someone sells a house you make an offer they don't accept it until the next viewers have been in case they offer more, if they don't then you get the call and do a little dance and call moving men.

The good news about the DM is if his people are waiting for options it sounds like he'll be someone we'd be pleased to get and not a journeyman space filler.

I know the majority on here vastly prefer Berahino to Austin but for an alternative view the fantasy football forums are extremely interested where Austin will end up and very meh about Berahino's prospects. Their view is very stats based of course but it is an indicator that it's not as one sided as many on here might believe.

BTW if you want to enter a team in the SC Fantasy League you have until 11:45 tomorrow morning to do so.

What worries me by the Goat's latest bleat is that it looks like this will happen late on in the window and there's a good chance we could be gazumped by a bigger club and end up with nothing.

What excites me is the DM is obviously of real quality and a true screen for our back four.

W.r.t the said DM. I would rather we move on to other targets. It will forever be known that we were a second or third choice club for him.

Its like trying to hook up with a chick and she telling you to give her a week or 2 and if other interest does not materialize she will consider the proposal.

So what if the Player finds a better option? Letting a 'maybe' go down to the deadline sounds pretty familiar.

Its going to happen again isn't it, on deadline day. I don't think I can take it again. Maybe if we sacrifice the Goat we can speed things along?

But in the transfer window you don't know whether any more viewers are coming. And you won't know until deadline day.
