Liverpool have just spent £20m on Henderson.

Thats 70m spent for their last 3 signings.

Im sure we cant spend like that.
50m drawn from Chelsea for Torres. Net spend = £20m. The proceeds of ending up sixth in the Premiership...

Fuck me that's alot of money for Henderson, but King Kenny is really starting to build a team that could last a few years over there. Suarez, Carroll, Henderson, Enrique (probably).

We're going to have to watch them next season.

Exactly, I mean, why Spurs don't spend like this on their quality signings is beyond me.

Our net spend based on what Levy has recouped from Signings like Berba, Keane Defoe etc is virtually £0. But you then have to ask, where is the money from our 8th place finish in 2008/09, 4th in 2009/10, Champo League Quarter Finals 2010/11 and 5th place finish 2010/11?

And also the multi-millions we made from our sponsorship deals with Investec and Autonomy?

I firmly believe Levy wants to spend, I think Harry is a bit of a woman when it comes to shopping and always ends up going back to the first player he saw (but in this case, they are either sold or too expensive).

This is where the risk element needs to appear with Mr. Redknapp. Take a risk on Gervinho, on Leandro, etc.

I know its all cover up talk sometimes, but the amount of times you hear Harry say "But they want an awful lot of money for him." Another clubs signs the player for something we could have afforded if we were willing to take the risk.

I want to see a summer of Spurs going for it. "We'll put a lot of eggs in to a few baskets and see what we can do with that."

Why? Have Sky bought the rights to all their matches?

It's taken Levy's Tottenham nigh on six years, since the brief Arnesen tenure, to build a quality-in-depth squad, capable of sustaining a challenge on more than one front throughout the season.

Liverpool may be building a useful first team but their depth in strength is palpably poor. They will have to spend a lot more yet just to compete for a full season, or take it patiently as Spurs is / are doing over a number of seasons to remain financially viable and healthy.

Think Gervinho will be with that horrible lot down the road poss by the end of the day

Like the message on SSN said, if Henderson is £20 million then Modric is not anywhere near the £20 million the press are suggesting. You would have to double it before the fee even became sensible if we are going to compare.

I think all this talk of Modric for £20 million is a Manchester United ploy to gradually unsettle him. They did it with Berbatov and Carrick. The fees started way-off but they gradually climbed to the point where the transfer became inevitable. The question is whether Manchester United have the resources and the desire to go above £40 million for him and encourage him to hand in a transfer request to weaken our position.

We have seen it all before.

Agreed but if they manage to ship out some of the dross from the Benitez/Hodgson era (Aquilani, N'Gog etc) then they're going to have a bit of cash to throw around, plus Henry and co. have already said they'll spend big.

What they do have is two strikers who can score goals and if they bring in a couple of wingers to supply them then I think they'll be at least equal to us.

But that's assuming we don't bring in anyone ourselves, and I trust that harry and Levy have that in hand.

I reckon it'll be an interesting battle for 4th next year between us, Liverpool and Arsenal.

If we don't buy a top quality striker or 2 then we won't be competing. Sorry. Not a chance in hell (and I am the most optimistic of Spurs fans).

Really? Where are you hearing that?

A European journalist on twitter seems fairly confident in both that and also Lukaku to Chelscum...guess time will show how reliable he is...did threaten to reveal how he was so certain later s I will keep an eye on it

Sunderland should have quite a wedge of cash to spend now - selling Bent and Henderson has given them over £40M.

I'd be happy for them to sign Crouch and if we can get £8m for him I will be thrilled.

If only they could do a treble like they did last time and take Jenas and Hutton too. £22m for all 3.

If Gervinho is a replacement for Arshavin then what are people's opinions on Arshavin. I do think he is lazy at tracking back, but for £8m would you consider him?

Personally, I wouldn't.

Apologies for the deviation mods but just saw this from Steven Mangan on Twitter who apparently is filming at White Hart Lane today and it made me smile:
Tweet 1:On my way to White Hart Lane to do some filming. Hoping to find Luca Modric chained to the railings wearing a 'not for sale' sticker
Tweet 2: No sign of Luca but Robbie Keane running round pitch pointing and shouting. Sad really. Can't bear to tell him there's no one there.

I met Steve Mangan at the filming for a tv shoe my missus works on, such a funny guy and a die hard spurs fan!

£20M for Henderson seems like CRAZY money for a 20 year old who has never played in Europe and has been in the England squad once... Why are Liverpool filling positions where they have strength?! Spearing looked a real player towards the end of last season...Everyone knows they need width, why not make it a priority?!

Maybe Steven Gerrard has an injury that will see him slowly phase out over the coming year. He seems like a Gerrard replacement.

Tweet from GiuseppeRossi:

Going to visit LOTTO

Obviously regarding his boot deal. Hmm... I wonder if there is a contractual change going to be made (esp regarding the club he will be playing for)?
