Why do you all make out Levy to be cheap skate? He is prudent and financially astute, where by we benefit as a club making us competitive both on and off the pitch.

While I understand the argument, it's fairly easy to see why some consider him cheap if you look at our transfer history since '09. That year we sold a ton of important players in the summer, nearly got relegated and Harry was allowed to spend whatever he needed in the winter to assure top flight status

Note: I am removing Robbie Keane from these numbers because I am never quite sure how he works out financially that year

2008-09: Sold: £80m Bought £92.5m Net: +£12.5m (but as high as +£20 depending on Keano)

And for the most part the ENIC years prior to that had typically seen us net spend £17m per year.

After that, the funds have really dried up

2009-10: bought 28.5 sold 31.75 net -£3m (we made money)
2010-11: bought 18.5 sold 1 net +£17 (right back to the average mentioned above)
2011-12: bought 8 sold 37.5 net -£29m
2012-13: Modric year bought 60m sold 66m net -£6m
2013-14: Bale year bought 105m sold 125m net -£20m

So over the last 3 years, we have net gained £45m in the transfer market.
Over the last 5, we have net gained £36m
And other than 2010-11 when we only sold one player, we have made a profit in the transfer market for 4 out of the last 5. And a fairly substantial profit too. £45m would be 1/10th of the estimated cost of out the Northumberland Development Project.

So this tends to be the reason people call him cheap. And such things as the wheelbarrow in Spain winter of 2011 and last summers erroneous rumor of a 50m influx from Uncle Joe, skew fans thinking as well. Now, there are possibly reasons for this perceived cheapness, such as he is putting the money towards the stadiumor the training facility or burying the excess cash in better wages for our player. We don't know for sure. But people just see the outgoing being well below the incoming and can then conclude that Levy has become very cheap.

Not saying it's right or wrong, just tying to explain how people get there.

And yet, we are assembling a very strong side with a net profit over 5-6 years.

Gards just tweeted that Yedlin is in the building.

Not sure if that is literal or saying we're in for him.

Some people suggest it would be hard for Yedlin to get a work permit. He has not started a single game for the US National team. How do we solve such a problem? If we loan him back, and he'll not figure from start in the US national team, how will he be able to get wp?

Maybe we should call Klinsmann and ask him to start Yedlin every single game from now on

Has been debunked here. Read the Yedlin thread. Fuck it, ill just do it again.

Yedlin has been selected to the squad for all 9 matches he was eligible for this year. The 10th was a primarily european based team. Played 7. Started 1. Played 3/4 in WC. Can get a Latvian passport if need be. If England doesnt grant a permit, they're just anti american. There should be no problems getting a work permit. Keller's an idiot. Everyone's listening to him and regurgitating what he said. Dont. It saves your brain cells.
