Doesn't make sense. Dier is a world calls DM. Don't move him. Wimmer is a left footed left center back. The other two are complete unknowns.

The small time mentality that is being shown by some on here is cringeworthy re. the Gotze rumours.

It's like we should be embarrassed to admit that we could sign a player of his caliber. Yes he's a top player but so what? We're a champions league team for goodness sake. One of the best teams in our league. Gotze should be so lucky to play for us.

Either way, all I really wanted from here was another attacking midfielder so GF's info makes me feel good that we will do this.

I'm liking the squad as is now. Maintaining the bond is so important. I'd love it if we could ruin west ham by taking Payet for £50m or, say, Mahrez for £35m or Koke for £40m but, for me, it's that level we add now or nothing else.

It's interesting that JJ and GF both hint at one more.

For my sins, I've just spent 20 mins trawling through some of the Transfer threads of our opponents' forums.

The general trend in the comments is that - whilst most are impressed at our signings and the pragmatic approach to solving our squad issues - they all seem to think that we need to upgrade at least one position in our starting XI.

Most think we need to upgrade one of the three behind the striker.

I think they are right in a sense, but I think what we need is something different to what those guys bring to the party. Namely, pace and trickery.

I think we've been a bit unlucky, It appears that our principal targets for a player of that mould have both suffered major injuries at the end of their respective seasons. Eduardo Salvio in 2015 and Sofiane Boufal this summer.

I think we would have done the business already had that not happened.

Hopefully we still will.

Although I don't think it's impossible like some people I'll admit Götze does seem unlikely, but if he is our third and final signing then what an incredible transfer window it would have been. Strengthening where required and not just 30-something squad fillers like in the past.

We finalize the deals we seriously need like DM and Striker.
Then the AM we let the preseason and market decide as it is not a priority but a position we could upgrade.
Although Gotze would be great, I think we need more a dribbler than a playmaker. Someone like Mahrez or Boufal. Someone that can unlock tight defenses

Wasn't dier an unknown in CM at the start of last season and now you are saying he "is a world class DM" (I am guessing you mean class not calls) so these unknown are worth a shot and would probably be happy on the bench or little playing time.

I suspect it means that we can expect one more incoming. But of course we should consider that we can expect a number of outgoings too. The tendency has been to have a net spend in recent years and I believe that this trend will continue. Players like Fazio, Chadli, Carroll, etc may well be on their way out the door. But maybe we should be bracing ourselves for the loss of someone like Lamela or Eriksen.

There is one main reason we won't sign goetze and that is that we will not pay what he wants, not that we aren't a big enough club for him, he will end up back at Dortmund mark my words.

What's more we have 2 players or more for every position - plus some youngsters who could play a part on top.

I'm sure the moaners are going to whinge that they don't like some of the players. But tough..., they are our players !

Another incoming to upgrade what we have would be fantastic - but I'm actually reasonably happy now
