Barkley and Mawson in for pre season would really be brilliant and strengthening the squad massively in two key areas.

Can't wait to see what Poch would do with Barkley, especially if he's the one that Poch wants which all ITK has seemed to suggest.

It's Mawson 100%.

With prospect of Son injury.if we want to play 4231 our options really are thread bare .sissoko or nkoudou.Getting an AM in before season starts is an absolute priority imo.

Don't agree it's Mawson. Why would the club come out and say they are not actively in any negotiations with Mawson if he was on the verge of signing? It makes no sense.

I think some of you got the wrong end of the stick with the Bale info. When I said next season I meant 18/19 when we move into new stadium.

Also never said Bale was signing. Simply the deal is there to be done because the ball is in our court and we wouldn't have put that option in place if we didn't want to consider bringing Bale back.

Turkish might put Bale in our first team :sneaky:

Enjoy your weekend (y)

If that's even a remote possibility, then I expect it would involve Alli going in the opposite direction.

Could be the young Argentinian defender Foyth, by some accounts Veron is coming to London to sort out a deal this week.

can't see Mawson coming in unless Wimmer has been sold and we don't know about it. Think it's more one of the two Poch wants in or a a youngster - also can't see Mawson being in to replace an injured Son not sure how that even works

I Florence counts as northern Italy id like it to be Bernadeshi, he is kind of a hybrid between Alli, eriksen and Son and has a lot of potential. Just needs to work on his consistency but he has so many 'wow I can't believe what I've just seen' moments that I'd love to have him compete in one of those three positions.

Its Suso though really isn't it?

Bernadeschi would be a fanatastic signing, small quick type of player we have perhaps been lacking.

We are doing things differently this year. There's a high level of cloak and dagger in the way Arsenal used to be. I'd be surprised if the media over here has even mentioned the players we might be after.

Max Mayer would be my guess

If it is Meyer, I'd be surprised if Barkley came too

Veltman
King

Would do for me very much so - Wimmer will be out and Janssen unfortunately just won't do it at the required level IMO.

Barkley I've been against since day one but with £50m ish for Walker we could do those two deals and have enough for a £20m Barkley without breaking the bank so I wouldn't be against it in those terms.

Just the first two would be a significant squad upgrade IMO which is as you say, where we need to strengthen.

It's quite incredible how many continue to debate who signing x would replace in the first xi etc, when we are clearly looking to add depth to the squad to ensure players aren't overplayed when carrying knocks or suspended. The same people will cry when we flop in the cups again, that we haven't won anything yet bla bla. Christ.

Blimey that old clean and jerk last night was a bit feisty - a reminder of halcyon days a decade and more ago.

Glad to see the back of him though, his reasoning techniques were a bit "in one's face". Well despatched Rob.

Matters in hand... Hoping for some incoming this week and plenty of closing encounters of ITK kind.

If there's a player imminently inbound, you'd guess at either Lopez, as that's been rumbling on in the background for some time.
Maybe it's Juan Foyth given the media comments about Veron coming to discuss the transfer with us, I think that'd be a smart move, from the clips I've seen he looks Dier'esque, so would give us cover at the back in a back 3, but also between him and Dier we'd have competition for Wanyama, which is one particular area that needs addressing.
If Trix doesn't believe it's Barkley, then my only other guess would be someone from the northern Italy delegation ITK. Suso from Milan has been linked, but has been pretty strongly dismissed as happy at Milan in the press. Does Sassuolo count as northern Italy, as Domenico Berrardi has been linked in the past.

If it's Lopez I'll fkn cry.

The club were always tweeting about him during the U21 WC, as though he was still our player.

It's gonna be Lopez this has been the most talked about deal for months.

Good young keeper coming off the back of. Excellent tournament

Word is we want this deal done so Luke McGee can join Portsmouth on loan
