Every window more horrible than the last

It's called progress where it matters, on the pitch.

And that, I'm afraid, makes it more difficult to improve the overall level of the squad.

I do accept that people are pissed off at Walker being sold though with no replacement in before the season is about to start.

I actually think we should of aimed to get our targets in earlier, and altered our MO for this summer, because of the current state of the market and the tougher task of improving this squad with a shorter list to work from.

Sounds contradictory, but perhaps we should be a bit more aggressive pursuing the players who really would make that difference.

Not easy, but if possible I'd rather one quality addition as opposed to three more speculative punts type ala NKD.

I think it's a shame we're starting the season somewhat weaker, and I'm under no illusion that we are given the sale of Walker.

That said, we're another year more experienced as a group so there is that, continuity and stability.

Losing Barkley, who I believe would improve the overall quality to the squad, to say Chelsea on deadline day would be a huge kick in the balls.

Above all, it's how Pochettino views it all. If he's happy then fine, but if he ends up frustrated, and he's ambitious for sure, we'd be mad to not factor that in to our normal MO in the transfer market.

Stadium to plan for, but surely this is the best manager we've had for a very long time - if we need to adapt, to keep him happy, we should be doing it.

I'll requote you, now read it slowly. You've said if the players can't live up to expectations they'll lose faith in the club and want to leave. If the players don't perform I don't see how that's the clubs fault? This team as it stands are good enough to win the PL.

The team we've got which has failed to win the premier league twice and has now lost a couple of its members is good enough to win the premier league?

I think you're living in a fantasy mate.

I agree with most of what you say here other than that we could have approached targets more aggressively.

With the level of player we are targeting they are always going to be on the list of bigger clubs bs than ours. So a lot of the time they will make us wait it out until they're absolutely sure a move to bigger club than us is not on.

Of course, we could always target less talented players and get the business done earlier for the sake of it but that won't do anything to improve the squad.

Yeah, not easy. And I'm only speculating anyway as who knows how much is going on behind the scenes.

And I'm well aware that our business model has contributed to our recent success, very much so.

But we have an exceptionally good manager and I'm sure Levy will want him here for the long term, but if we want to build something long term under Pochettino we need to be able to match his ambition in the short term as well.

His stock is on the rise and Im sure he wants to constantly progress us and enhance his own reputation as a manager, the two go hand in hand.

Signing top.end players who are earning top end money is never easy.

But after finishing second, having not signed anyone yet, I was hoping we'd of pulled something out of the hat by now, especially when you consider we've already sold a first teamer to a direct rival.

It just doesn't feel like we're capitalising from our recent success.

Hopefully we get Barkley as I'd consider him a quality signing.
