Strange example for Isco, I don't think he ever really became the player he was supposed to be. No end product and he's 27 already, I don't really mind missing him. Chris and Dele have been great for us.

As for GLS, he might turn out good but if we can keep Eriksen that would be my top priority. Our second best player in the Poch era after Kane, world class, knows the system/league/squad. He's miles ahead of GLS now. Yeah would have been nice to have both, but paying ~70m for essentially an Eriksen backup is ridiculous, we're not Manchester City.

Isco would have been immense for us. "Failing" at Madrid isn't a fair judgement for any player.

It just depends who is out there, doesn’t it? I can’t think of too many RB’s commanding a £40m tag other than AWB and I’m not sure he really fits the profile Poch is looking for. AWB hasn’t really shown a great deal going forward and while he has looked good defensively is he still going to look good defensively when transitioning from a position high up the pitch. Defending while tracking back is a totally different skill to defending when already back.

If Poch doesn’t think he is right for what we are trying to do and there are players that have a cheaper tag that he does like then I don’t see a problem with it.

ali z on aarons: Club been keen on him for a while doubt Norwich will sell this summer, Lewis the LB is also highly thought of.

Considering the run around we've had concerning Zaha the last couple of seasons, I'd be amazed if he ends up here. Never say never and all that, but I'd file this one away as unlikely.

Basically what's changed is where we were moaning about Ndombele information going quiet, that has now accelerated but we aren't happy unless we are miserable about something so the Lo Celso deal looks prime real estate for a thing to be moaning about.
I wouldn't be moaning about Lo Celso, seems hell of a lot of money from figures mentioned and hasn't really set La Liga alight, hope I'm wrong though, trust in Poch.

Jamal Lewis plays LB for my home country N.Ireland, was wondering how long before big clubs became interested, he's been outstanding for N.Ireland, pacy, technically very good and a real attacking full back, still work to do defensively but a good prospect...

However you read whatever you read, reports or ITK, there's no doubt there is a real sense of momentum building this week, optimism is my word of the day.

I think we've had info that we wanted him for the last 2-3 summers, and in the last two he decided to make his exit harder both times by signing new deals without release clauses. Personally think he's been poorly advised and I think he's gonna miss out on a big career move as a result.

It would make sense for us not to waste time on him like you say.

His best hope is Chelsea moving for him whenever they can sign players again I'd imagine.

He has certainly set La Liga alight, he scored 16 goals in all comps and the media were impressed by him against Barca,I'm hopeful it can get done.

Absolutely no way I'm getting carried away with the thought of Zaha, I've done so in quite a few windows before now and they've all ended the exact same way.

I actually looked at the Arsenal forums with them talking about Zaha and it all looked so familiar. He will certainly be with Palace next season still IMO. I personally think he likes playing there and without having any sort of pressure.

Seems to have gone a bit cold and hopefully he stays but if Eriksen goes to RM I would love Asensio or Ceballos as well as a few quid. If he stays he needs to get his head back on it and put in some performances, end of season wasn't good.

I'd be absolutely thrilled with the signings of Ndombele, Clarke, and the Sessegnon brothers but can't help but feel based on the ITK we've had today that we will likely be leaving ourselves just a bit short of truly closing the gap on Liverpool and City and genuinely challenging for the title.

Eriksen's form last season showed that he needs some real competition and that we can't rely on Lamela to stay fit and provide it. Right back was a massive problem area that cost us a number of points. There's also the issue of Dier and Wanyama not playing to anywhere near the required standard. Failing to address those areas would mean that we've left ourselves a player or two short yet again.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised or even disappointed if that is where we find ourselves at the end of the transfer window. Years of inaction and ineffectiveness in the transfer market have left us with a long list of problem areas and it was probably always unrealistic that a club of our means would be able to address each and every one of them in a single window.

Signing Ndombele would be a massive statement of intent that would reverberate around the football world. We'd be setting ourselves up to take a major, even if incomplete, step forward next season. We'd have a realistic chance of putting together a campaign where we finish comfortably top three and have another respectable showing in Europe/cup competitions, which would leave us in a position of being able to round out the squad next summer. It will only be the first year of Poch's "next chapter" at Spurs after all, so I don't think it's fair to expect that there won't be any work left to be done moving forward.

I really hope you are right and he is as good as they say, think maybe the price will go down anyway.

Nowhere in the ITK did they say that we won't make further signings after the 3 mentioned (4 if Steven Sessegnon comes). In fact it even says we will get a RB once we sell one (which seems very likely). There have been reports we are willing to sell Wanyama or Dier too, which suggests we'd be keen to add there too.

One step at a time. The signing of Ndombele will be seismic if we complete it. Finally delivering a top target for Poch. A real statement of intent and proof of our arrival as a serious player on the European scene.

A recommitted Eriksen would be as good a signing as we can make this season too IMHO.

Spot on, brilliant post.

Recent ITK etc hugely promising however as you say the mooted signings would still leave us slightly short.

Judging by all the ITK over the last few days, it really seems we are trying to get the 3 obvious deals sorted soon, and then I think there may be a bit of a lull until the last week or so of the transfer window, when we can try and push other deals through.
The 3 early deals will give a massive lift to the squad, Ndombele is a huge signing and addresses a massive issue from last season, and if those 3 are the only significant signings (and CE and possibly TA stay) then we are certainly stronger.
If we can then tie up a few later deals, when selling clubs become a bit more desperate, then we could potentially be much stronger.

I know everyone wants us to get the big deals done early so we can challenge City and Liverpool, but I really don't see that happening, we are still not in the same league as them regarding throwing money at players/agents etc,its just not our MO, but the above would be a big improvement (and potentiality huge improvement) over our last few years of transfer dealings.

I certainly would be surprised if we don't end up with a significant net spend this summer, but we may still require a little patience to get all our deals done.
