Son, Lamela and Chadli are not CF's. I don't know why everyone thinks it's a walk in the park to play the number 9 role?
I don't know why everyone thinks it's a walk in the park to just join a team in January who has a very demanding head coach and expect them to fit in and bang in goals.

Nor how it's a walk in the park to acquire players in arguably the most valued position (monetary wise) in the middle of the season. Low teams won't let go of their goal scorers because they want to finish as high as possible and the same can basically be said of the higher teams.

Son said in an interview in feb that he can play there and has played the position before. Why do you think he can't play there?

I think the physical demands of the PL would seriously limit his effectiveness in that role.

I don't think that anyone is saying that CF would be Son's best position, merely that he can (and has) played that role before, so if we need a CF in a few marches he could lay that role.

And as I was discussing with @Bus-Conductor there are several players who might also be able to share a CF (or false no 9) role if we didn't bring in a 'ready made; Kane replacement

Considering all that Kane does I disagree that as long as they score they are good enough insurance.

...depends on whether a short or long term injury. secondly ..with njie out for 3mths.. Potentially Moving son to CF would leave us light elsewhere. we need a backup CF and if they can convert chances in premier league playing a CF role they'll likelly have at least some of Kane's attributes. The mad thing to do would be have no one. Look at the top four finishes over the last few years and the number of out and out strikers they had was always greater than 1 regardless of formation.

OK, tell me a player who we could realistically sign that is better than Kane, would score more goals and would fit perfectly in our pressing style?

The best thing about these posts is that when you subsequently ask them the above question, they can't give an answer.

The new forward could play with Kane? When njie has come on a sub we have seen him play as a striker with Kane behind or if the striker is berahino, berahino can play on the right.
I'm not saying this will happen every week but it doesn't have to be a straight swap if we can get the right player in

Left. Berahino's primary position is LWF. Unfortunately so is Son's, Chadli's and Njie's (whereas only Lamela prefers RWF). .

Would Lambert adapt quicker, having played for Pochettino previously. I don't think he's the answer, but just playing devils advocate in terms of players coming in and adjusting.

You'll get ppl rating this funny etc. but the same did when I mentioned Vardy and Mahrez in the summer "how are two Leicester players going to improve us, we should sign these two FM wonderkids from the Portuguese third division or, failing that, Messi and Suarez".

He'd do a job if Kane was out for a period of time and could come on and give us something else. As would Austin.

Back on topic, the ITK about Berahino worries me, was hoping he was just kicking up a fuss about the failed move but seems from the ITK that he's a bit unhinged. Think he would be a perfect fit for us to either deputise or complement Harry.

Considering Son hasn't exactly played a ton and Chadli has been injured most of the year and they play the same position AND we never exactly felt short I don't agree that we'd suddenly be short if Son played CF. We have several players to play in those areas.

I can see a month of arguing over a
Center forward again with all of us, whilst the club dont purchase one. Would almost be funny

So we might as well just give up and stop looking

In January, yeah, don't expect a whole lot.

Summer is the time to get that sort of stuff done. It's been that way for many years as well. From big clubs to small, getting the right players in is incredibly difficult in the middle of a season.

He did alright back in the day at Southampton under an Argentinian coach.
That was 3 seasons ago though, and I remember reading how Soton fans thought he had lost a yard of pace in his final season.

To put it in to perspective that was the same season where Mason was on loan at Swindon
Son is a better player, but as a number 9 on a short term basis Lambert would do a better job.
He's only scored one goal this season and that was a penalty.
