Lots of people blaming Levy for not sanctioning Traore deal but :

1 Surely we all accept 50m is too much for Traore
2 He doesn’t really solve the problem we have ie we all know both Kane and Son are injury prone.
3. Levy has sanctioned 120m of spend including 25m on a FOURTH right back. Surely that proves if he sees an upgrade, he pays.

I know Levy has failed a number of times but on this occasion I blame Paratici and possibly Nuno. We are supposed to have a list of options. If the only answer to a “problem” we are willing to spend 30/40m on is Traore, that speaks very badly of the scouting department and the manager’s willingness to see alternatives to what is quite a one dimensional player.
The ITK we've had is that Nuno and Paratici did not accept that Wolves' asking price for Traore was too much. Nuno had identified the player as his top choice, Paratici had struck the deal, Levy unilaterally vetoed it.

Levy has an established track record of not making sound football judgments, which is why the club employs other to make those judgments. I, for one, am 1000x more willing to accept the combined football acumen of our manager and DoF over that of Daniel Levy.

Morning lads, happy Van Der Vaart Day.

I’m starting a new job today for the first time since 2014 :wideyed: which is a welcome distraction but also means I’m going to be relying on checking this thread every few hours for updates. God help me.

Let’s hope we’re all happy come 11pm ?

Best of luck to you & I hope your first day goes amazingly.

I genuinely don’t get why all of a sudden people are talking about Bale and Vinicius like they saved our season last year? Yes Bale contributed with some nice goals but he was a bit part player for most of the season (not necessarily through any fault of his own). Meanwhile Vinicius hardly featured unless I’m missing the times he popped up and scored vital winners for us?

Bale will be missed but frankly more for sentimental reasons and in Gil we’ve got a clearly talented youngster who I’m excited to see play for us.

I really don’t see what Vinicius leaving does for us except put a hole in the squad, one that can be filled by Scarlett certainly in the cup games.

Someone earlier in the thread said that putting Dele up in attack would be like putting a square peg in a round hole but did he not play an attacking role back in 2016/17 supporting Kane when he bagged over 20 goals and plenty of assists?

It’s been a solid window and I feel we’re on a good track, finally starting the rebuild that we have desperately needed for so long.

I just wish we’d been able to sell more to get players off the wage bill and get rid of some toxicity.

As an aside thanks to all of the ITK providers, cracking job as always.
Having Vinicius and Bale in the team gave Son and Kane some time off. Vinicius' goals in Europe and the cup g
Top-10 moments of the Summer:

10. xG discussions
9. "Happy Days" -> Contract -> No Contract
8. Gattuso's time in the Social Media Barrel
7. Paratici signing, and gratuitous shot of him on his phone
6. Spurs "close" to signing Martinez and Vlahovic!
5. Conte is coming, and being given a huge war chest (quickly followed by, he can't bring his own staff)
4. Sonny signs new deal!
3. Nuno is the chosen one (@TheChosenOne)
2. Kane's Strike extended holiday

1. Charlie's Wedding!

Honourable Mentions: Romero's Kruel Intentions, Stadium Naming rights "imminent", Levy knows how important CL is
I'd have the Krule/Romario revelations in my top 5. That was quite a plot twist.

Cant see anything happening now. If we were still seriously chasing anything youd think talks would already need to be in progress

Why do I have the image of me as my 2 year old kid, throwing tantrums as Mum Levy stops Dad Fabio buying me a sugary snack at the cashier.

I don't understand why I can't have it but I can see my big sister Chelsea stuffing her face.
Brilliant - big sister Chelsea also has a nice new pair of Adidas trainers with 3 lovely stripes - why do mine only have 2 stripes!

Things are more relaxed. Just not that relaxed :D

For example, there's a heap of spam post full of emojis about moods if this or that happens just above. Usually, the banstick would be stuck up him handle deep for that shit. Now, people are starting to talk about squad bollocks, admittedly the needle on the meter is twitching on that one but we'll see.

You're going to ban me in 6 hours & 47 minutes just to stop me making it through a whole transfer window aren't you.

You romantic ❤

It’s transfer deadline day! This only comes around twice a year I’ve 365 days a year to disappoint a girl :)

Tough choice

Not to be sexist, although it is.....Is she cute?

If the answer is yes, wtf are doing here. Go get showered! You can be pissed off / disappointed / pleasantly surprised by spurs tomorrow.

Indeed - the point is that could well be the case. Or equally couldn’t be further from the truth. AND IT’S LIVE!

Wouldn't be surprised if Wolves drop their demands as the hours tick by. Can they really afford to turn down this money when next summer Traore will be worth half the value.

The trouble with the wait and see brigade is tomorrow never comes.

When Scarlett leads the line at Wolves in the league cup and we tumble out it’ll be there’s always the FA or maybe next year, but whatever we are rebuilding we never get to the point where it’s approaching being ready...

If ENIC ever put money in as opposed to actually taking it out we might have a chance of getting CL revenue back into the coffers. Failure to qualify won’t be acceptable? My arse.

Bales goals were significant last season- we would have finished a few places lower without them. Vinnie’s were useful too, in negotiating early cup rounds.

Weird.

So is the potentially-impending signing of Emerson Royal set to be the most apathetic reaction to a signing ever, based on the current mood in here?

Of course, he might sign a new contract if he doesn’t move now, so his value next summer would increase again…

ENIC don't take money out of the club and I don't think they ever have. While we aren't run like City or Chelsea (very few are) the problem seems to be Levy meddling where he shouldn't and thinking he knows more than he does more so than a lack of money.

I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but a train departed from Wolverhampton station bound for London about 30 mins ago.

I'm buzzing for him to sign. Always signed him on the games, so I'm delighted.

I think Sissoko may have been IMO.

We were being linked with Mane, Zaha and Wijnaldum and were all expecting an attacking player that could really add some weight in the final third. Were told it was down to money.

Then when we did spend a significant amount it was on a player who'd just spent the season getting hammered by Newcastle fans for a lack of effort and skill.

What irks me is we always seem to get so, so close to a team which could potentially elevate us to the next level and then inevitably fall short. A few years back we were arguably only 1 or 2 signings away from challenging for the title. Now, we are arguably only 1 or 2 signings away from making a serious challenge for the top four. I always end up with the feeling that the club is just too cautious to make the next step and pays the price for it. I get that they want to be sustainable, and that there is always a risk of overspending (see Ndombele) - but is there not also the very real risk of being left further behind by our rivals? Whatever the case, hindsight shows us that the strategy over the past few seasons has been poor, and so you would think perhaps they would shake it up in order to make up lost ground. Yet here we are again. Whatever happened to "to dare is to do"? Daniel Levy seems like the antithesis of that mantra.
Been saying this for years, we get ourselves in to a position where we can take the next step and he hold us back, that's why our new motto is to dare is to dear.
